Can Youtube remove all of Katy's payola'd views as well? Billboard should join the chat and reassess some of Katy's TD and Prism singles' chart positions too, please and thank you. :lolly:

And some LM are still obsessed with Katy. Maybe you should become KatyCats, seen how hardly you talk about her !

Katy’s views are legit, not her fault if some of you don’t like her succeeding !

This is more evidence to me how views and streaming are bullshit and the formula needs to be totally rethought. It shouldn't count to the MAIN charts at all. It's bs like this, that has Drake 2nd behind the beatles which is just absurd.

The beatles are overrated and so is Drake sunglasses deal with it GIF

we really need this for LG6 lead

I would really love for Gaga to pull similar numbers, but I would never want her to stoop so low, I’d expect this from singers who lack talent/artistic integrity such as Drake, JB, Rihanna..etc.

The formula needs to be "reevaluated" but streaming should count in the charts.

We might be biased because our fave does better in pure sales but the truth is that streaming reflects continued demand better than just sales do. It's much less front-loaded and shows longevity. How many times will a listener buy the same song? They can, however, continue to stream it and it's more indicative of actual use patterns when most people today don't buy music and use streaming.

There is a pure sales only chart for those who don't like streaming.

Not really though.

After you buy the music, when you listen to it it no longer counts.

But for streaming, you don’t even have to buy it and it will count each time. To make matters worse, it counts even if you just put on a playlist. Which means, people are streaming songs essentially because Spotify put it in front of them.

Buying music is intentional and actually means something. Streaming, in large part, means jack ****. I feel the same way about radio play mind you. Neither streaming or radio play indicate longevity. So many songs and even entire artists did absolutely phenomenal on the charts, and people forgot about them already and didn’t even like them at the time.

It should. It shows continued interest and therefore longevity. It is on-demand music that you can skip even if you have a playlist going. And of course if you don't like it, your 3 accidental streams of it won't count nearly as much as a sale. Radio, on the other hand is forced on to people; so, I agree it shouldn't be counted.

It's also something not everyone can afford, so unless you're saying only the affluent should get to have a say in charts... Music is a luxury for many. Free and small monthly fee streaming has been a boon for music consumers, like it or not. People are able to play what they want much better. And if you're really that concerned about playlisting, maybe autoplays should count less. On-demand streaming though should definitely count.

How is a chart accurate or reflective of anything if it's based on the fact that 3000 people are buying a song 9 months after its release? Who are these 3000 people? How come they didn't buy it yet? Does it matter all that much? Perhaps we could focus on the 20 MILLION people who are consistently playing this song after all this time and use that as a better indicator.

But radio needs to go.

I thought youtube was responsible (since it was ‘YT music awards’) for the streams, not Gaga/her team.
