Last year, prior to the release of A Star is Born, the NY Times published an article about her titled "Lady Gaga Isn't Done Shape-Shifting yet' and I have to say I still see it as the most respectful and true article I've ever read regarding Gaga and her artistry. It is an interesting analysis of her and her pop stardom as well and I love that they called her "shape-shifter".

What do you think about the article?

Thank you so much for sharing! I really enjoyed the article and might have missed it.

"But instead of seeing those identities as segmented — the real person, the facade — she put forth the concept that it’s possible, and ultimately adaptive, in a fractured world to try to free yourself from old boundaries. You can be an insider and an outsider at the same time, a human and an alien. All that is solid melts into Gaga. If this seems paradoxical, it is; but the paradox is where Gaga shines. Postmodern double truths are her milieu."

Love this

To me she like years ahead of the curve and everybody else trying to catch up...

Most of her work just goes over their head.

This writer gets it:

Some viewers may read a rock-versus-pop hierarchy into Ally’s transformations — that she is more “real” when she is harmonizing with Jackson’s twangy melodies or sitting at her piano — but Gaga’s onscreen mastery over both genres is a pre-emptive rebuttal to what is essentially a gendered bias. What “A Star Is Born” makes clear about Lady Gaga is that she possesses the dexterity to make whatever kind of music she likes.

I feel as though some of her looks are precursors to the type of music she's going to put out! Recently its kind of gothic chic underground edm kinda vibe!

Maybe I'm reading to much into my look theory:fan:

Interesting theory...

Her wardrobe and make up choices do seem to fit with her current artist visions....

This is probably one of my top5 favorite pieces written about her ever

The interviewer, Rachel Syme, actually understands her art and the way Gaga uses characters and different personas at her disposal. Just like how another member pointed out, a lot of things LG does goes over so many people's head, they don't realize that much of what she shares to public related to her art is a form of performance (I remember when this article came out it was very provocative to certain fans lol...) and, in a way, she's constantly changing and shape-shifting into different personas since the start of her career. It's one big performance, but it's still very much an authentic extension of who she is and how she feels. There's no one persona that is her most "true" form. The club kid, decaying starlit, alien, art-provocateur, regular girl, Hollywood star, and now whatever she has next :nooo:

Ugh, I hope she interviews her again for LG6 whenever it comes out. Such an amazing read! Love the cover too!
