Is gaga ashamed of ARTPOP?

Hi people.

Someone made an interesting point in another thread, where it said that Gaga had to give up so much stuff during the ARTPOP era, incl her creative freedom, her artistic direction, her success, that maybe all those things built up to her hating that whole part of her career? I think that under all of the pressure from the label and how much she hated all of the restrictions, she gave up and gave us a messy album with only a couple good songs and saved all the good ones for her own collection 

She didn’t perform any of the songs at the biggest concert of the year, the Super Bowl, she performed one song at the JWT, which was applause, and she stated somewhere in a GMA interview that it’s a song for the fans, so that explains why she performed it at her last tour because she knew she wouldn’t see majority of her fans for a long time  

She completely snubbed ARTPOP for ENIGMA, even not including her biggest radio hit and longest bb100 top 10 runner Applause. (EDIT; someone’s noted that Applause IS in fact performed, sorry)

The only major event since the ARTRAVE where she has performed a decent amount of ARTPOP songs is Coachella, which she probably was required to do so since most of ARTPOP is kinda, festivalish and fit for a massive rave?

So what I would like to ask everyone, do you think Gaga is ashamed of ARTPOP, incl. the music AND era?

I'm 100% sure she was asked this question in an interview once and she expressed her love for it, just that people didn't understand it. Does anyone else remember?

Tbh, you can't use setlists to evaluate her love for that album. At this point of her career she has a lot of songs to choose from and it's almost inevitable to have that "omg where is this song?!!" effect. It happens to all artists at a certain point.

But contrary to what you're claiming she does perform Applause at Enigma So that's still two songs. For comparison: she only chose one Joanne number for the show. So I guess she really hates Joanne

And if she has so many songs why is she choosing generic songs from 2008 like Beautiful, Dirty, Rich and The Fame?

Because she needed them to tell the show's storyline

I'm sure if the opportunity pops up to use ARTPOP songs this way, she won't hesitate to do it. I can totally see her perform Venus, G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, ARTPOP, Swine, Fashion!, Dope and Gypsy in the future And if she hadn't cancelled DWUW as part of her discography I'm sure she would've performed that regularly too tbh.

I don't think the ARTPOP era was a very good time in her life overall, for her personal life or her career. So I can understand all the negative memories potentially souring her relationship with the music she made in that point of her life. And certainly the DWUW controversy from early this year didn't help.

I don't think she's ashamed of it as much as it's probably painful. The album itself hits in difficult places and takes on some dark themes as far as all of the things she was going through during the time of creating/ release/ after release. She said herself she loves the album and she's happy those that love it do. I'm positive she will revisit it at a later time and perform some more tracks at some point, but perhaps she just would rather perform other tracks currently that better suit a setlist/ her life. That's just my best guess, idk. I miss the ARTPOP era terribly though and do hope that whatever reason has prevented/ is preventing her from performing or acknowledging the album passes soon so that whenever she does tour next, there will be at least a few tracks in the setlist. 

Sidenote: really happy she decided to put Aura and Applause on the ENIGMA setlist. Granted those were kind of a given, but still

Aren't we all?  JK... I think it's bittersweet for her to think about that period of her life, she made an album her true fans absolutely adored but she took a dive in popularity and everybody in the GP was harsh on her so I can see it be difficult to think about that time for her.
