When Trump tweets about infestation, it's about black and brown people

First he attacked Cummings. This morning he attacked Rev. Al Sharpton. Before this he attacked 4 Congresswomen of color, and Rep Lewis. In all his tweets he mentioned the word 'infested' in some form. Is it really that hard to connect the dots? There's a clear pattern here, how can you choose to overlook it? What lengths would his supporters go to defend him?

Hopefully, he gets voted out by 2020...ย  So Twitter can finally ban his embarrassment of an account for everyone.

No one is โ€œdeflectingโ€ here, but you. Have you lived in Baltimore? Do you know people who have lived there for years? It is as safe to live there as mostย big citiesย in the US.ย Ifย you are not a gang member involved in gang wars, the likelihood of being murdered is ridiculously low. You are much more likely to die in a car on a trip to Target.ย

Big cities with poverty and gangs have crime. Thatโ€™s the pattern. That has nothing to do with Elijah Cummings being a good representative for his district and it certainly doesnโ€™t mean that there arenโ€™t over half a million human beings of every race and income level that make Baltimore their home and are happy living there.ย ย

Of the top ten poorest and worst run states are red states.

4. ย Louisiana
5. ย West Virginia
6. ย Kentucky
7. ย South Carolina

9. ย Georgia
10. ย South Carolina

The vast majority are run by republican governors.

The Democrats won every election in Arkansas between 1876 and 1964. The rest of the South was almost as blue. But after the Democrats abandoned the South, poverty took overย the region. The Demsย sold out their own people and then moved to the big media cities of California and New York. The confusion and loss of identity still remains. So many Southerners donโ€™t even realise the betrayal and cling onto the nostalgia of when the Democrats actually represented them. The South didnโ€™t leave the Democrats-ย Trump got elected because the Democrats left them.

So youโ€™re just going to ignore the ideological shift between the two major parties that occurred around that time?ย

The Democrats lost the South in the 1960โ€™s after they got on board with The Civil Rights movement. The transition was complete in the 1980โ€™s. Since then, the South is largely Republican.ย

The South has had the same ideology forever and votes according to who satisfies their ideological beliefs.ย

The fact youโ€™d post this analysis of yours without mentioning major ideological shifts is so intellectually dishonest.ย

Maybe because you donโ€™t live in the US, you donโ€™t follow US history and ย repeat far right talking points, but you need to understand that Republicans and Democrats switched parties in the 1960s.

1964:ย Lyndon Johnson essentially completely drops the longest voting connection thatย the Democratic Party had: southern whites left the party in flocks.ย  By making Civil Rights an official part of the Democratic platform, the Republicans lose basically all of whatโ€™s left of their black constituencies โ€“ which had been a significant part of their remaining progressive vote in northern urban areas.ย  The Democrats start to hemorrhage southern whites rapidly โ€“ย George Wallace, a segregationist, tries to split votes in 1968.

The process is complete,ย liberals are Democrats and conservatives are Republicans. They have successfully switched platforms.

So Republicans, are no longer the โ€œParty of Lincolnโ€. Theyย are the party that the Democrats once were โ€” the party of states rightsโ€™ and segregation.

ย

You are correct, the South (and Arkansas) was just as conservative and racist as it is now. (I live twenty minutes from the Arkansas border and ten minutes from the Mississippi border...not 10,000 miles away)ย

Saying that the South has had the same ideology โ€œforeverโ€ is beyond intellectually dishonest: Itโ€™s actually disparaging to Southerners and itโ€™s logically incoherent.ย My โ€œanalysisโ€ is simply the truth thatย you canโ€™t bring yourselfย bear to hear because you know it hurts. The Democrats left the South, not the other way round. And now look how damn poor they are.

We are Southerners! We know what it is like to live in the South.ย

Republicans, and before that conservatives, ranย these states into the ground. They are the poorest, most regressive and least educated states in the US. They are woefully behind in human rights and always have been...and thatโ€™s because of conservatism, not liberals.ย

Your lack of knowledge is showing here.ย

Your analysis is incomplete to the point it is intellectually dishonest. Iโ€™m sure on purpose.ย

The South resented the Republicans after the Civil War and Reconstruction eras. This is why they voted Democrat.ย

The South has been poor since the 1800โ€™s after their entire economic system was removed and replaced. Slavery was no longer a thing. The North thrived off industrialization while the South took more time to catch up. Agricultural methodsย in the 1900โ€™s helped it thrive a bit more but the reason the South rejected Republicans was because they viewed them as the reason for many of their woes. The South continued to create racist laws for a century after slavery was abolished as a form of revenge.ย

I live in Texas and am American. You donโ€™t know better than I do about the place Iโ€™ve lived my entire life.ย

True, I am from another country. But I have never aligned myself with any party. Not here in Australia, not inย the US. I hate party politics. That is how peopleโ€™sย loyalty getsย used. I have never suppported Dems or Republicans. I simply focus on the leaders (or lack thereof, in the case of the Democrats). And Iย believe that the voters are always, always right. I believe the South is waking up to decades of neglect, and in fact most rural areas. Trump will not only win in 2020 butย his appointed successor will take out 2024 as well. This is a newย awakening.ย Unless the Dems change their twisted ways andย purge their greatest liabilities, but that wonโ€™t happen because theyโ€™re too busy focusing on antagonising Trump. Theyโ€™re being ignored by voters because theyโ€™re trying to out-Trump Trump!!!

Like...what?!!!!!

The South isnโ€™t โ€œwaking upโ€ to anything. They voted how they have voted for decades.ย

Trump managed to attract independents in swing states. That is how he won.ย

The Great Lakes woke up too. And almost all of the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states. Almost all of America outside the big media cities has woken up. Dems need to start blaming themselves for their failures. Blaming the winner looks really cheap and desperate.

The South didn't wake up. That's a fact, so stop repeating it.ย

The other areas you mentioned that are in swing states were swayed by Trump... they are after all, SWING STATES. The possibility of them swinging back sometime in the future is certain.ย

Many rural areas have voted Republican consistently for decades and large cities Democrat for decades. There is no waking up. There is nothing extraordinary happening.ย

I do agree Democrats need to do better to win again, but your statements just sound like some talking points you read online and are just running with them with no real knowledge.ย

2012_large.png

2008_large.png

2004_large.png

2000_large.png

These all look pretty similar except for 2004 where the Iraq war was a factor. Nothing extraordinaryย has occurred this century in the US.

In fact, Trump didn't even win the popular vote. He was the unpopular candidate.ย ย

Actually, Obama's 2008 victory a bit extraordinary in the sense of how he won by 10M votes. But the support was similar in the areas as it has been for the past 30 years or so.ย

And I might also add: Trump's win could be categorized as extraordinary because many didn't think he could win, but looking at it as a Republican winning, it was nothing big. He didn't win the popular vote and won byย ย a smaller margin in the states he won. An example: My state of Texas. He won by 9 points here. Meanwhile Romney won by 16 points. And again, lost the popular vote.ย

The South left the Democrats when they decided not to support racism anymore. The year they added ending racial discrimination to the national party platform, the South voted against them for the first time ever.

Republicans obviously took advantage of this and started appealing to the Southern confederate sympathizers and racists.

It's a good thing Dems don't represent the South anymore. At least not the racist South.
