Which do you prefer: Greatest Hits albums or Streaming Playlists?

Greatest Hits albums:

Pros: Celebrates a catalogue of work through artwork, tracklisting etc, marks a moment in artist/band's career

 

Streaming Playlists:

Pros:  no waiting around for a 'Greatest Hits' album - songs are readily available, new trend of Streaming encourages discovering playlist/relistening

I think greatest hits albums died before streaming during digital downloads. 

But I love the idea of greatest hits vinyl collections.

Greatest Hits because it actually has a cover art  and concept (and often new singles... eg. Revolver from Celebration)

Greatest hits, because if done properly they can take on an era of their own and they usually have new songs which is a plus, unless they're just fillers.

Greatest Hits are wonderful, in physical formats. I used to get so excited about buying them as a way to get into established artists

Greatest hits because they sometimes have new songs. Britney’s first greatest hits album had 3 new songs and everyone in the fandom loves them. 3 was another great Britney song that was originally on a greatest hits album as well. 

That said, if there’s not gonna be new songs, then I’ll just make a playlist tbh
