I just like my hip hop fast, tight and energetic with at least some lyrical depth :saladga:

Transgressiveness is also very welcome, even if the song itself is a complete trainwreck (i.e. Anaconda). But J'nD doesn't have any of it in a satisfying amount which is why will always feel unsatisfied after listening to it.

@Mirages @Andreu He meant Anaconda was transgressive even if it didn't have lyrical depth  HIs post divided songs into  two categories, not one

I think JND has plenty of lyrical depth :oprah: It just doesn't show it off immediately upon first listen. You have to dig a little. But since when is that a bad thing.

This is a Gaga song we're talking about :emma: She wouldn't release something meaningless. She didn't list this track as one of her favorites even after her fans had already loudly proclaimed they hated it for no reason.

I've listened to the song according to google play at least 32 times in my life. Probably more because Amazon music doesn't show me :emma:

I haven't found any deeper meaning in it as of yet.

Jewels N Drugs is the only song I skip when it starts. I just dislike the production and I feel the collab wasn't good at all. I was really disappointed listening to this song during Swinefest. Gaga's parts saves the whole song and that's why I downloaded the song with only Gaga's parts. (its a bit messy, but still better than the original). My 2nd least favorite Gaga song is Again Again and that song is miles better than Jewels N Drugs. I just can't get into it.

I love it too. I actually enjoy all her songs, but Again Again isn't available in my country, so I can't listen to it often, unless I download it and save it onto my Spotify and I'm only realizing that now, so I'm gonna do that

Placed in that position on the album it marks a materialization of love (as related to money and drugs) in stark contrast to the heavenly love presented in Venus. The song's there for a reason. It describes addiction ("you don't need 'em, but the diamonds make it shine; tried to kick it, just can't find the time"), loneliness and a confused craving for the material as well as the immaterial.

Some of the lyrics are quite clever double entendres ("show me the gateway into your love") and some of them actually refer to other songs on the album, further solidifying its place in the album's narrative ("the recipe with a legacy of taking her to another place"; "take me to your planet"). On its own it may not look substantial but when you try to find the album's storyline it's a necessary link in the chain :nick:

I search for the meaning of every song extremely deep. I defended 7 Rings as a metaphor for Ariana using materialism to fill an empty void in herself with the wholesome Sound Of Music sample as element that needed to be subverted. Maybe one day J'nD clicks (I mean Just Dance needed 9 years to grow on me :emma:) but it's just not the time right now.

Well, that's kind of obvious, no? :emma: Are there people out there who didn't get this? :rip:
