Didymus 34,379
"Pocahontas" may be Disney's next live-action remake (Bailee Abell for Inside the Magic — Source) "It looks like another live-action Disney remake is just around the riverbend. Disney is reportedly creating a reimagined live-action version of “Pocahontas” with a Native American lead actress, and we’re not sure what fans will think about it. [...] So far, Disney hasn’t made any formal announcements that a live-action “Pocahontas” film is coming soon, and it’s reportedly still in the very early stages of development." I know it's just a rumor but Inside the Magic usually gets **** right This rumor surfaced three days ago here and if Inside the Magic picked up on it, we have like an 80% chance it's true I don't know man... if there's one remake I'd maybe appreciate it's Pocahontas because they can make some meaningful statements (hopefully) but I'm getting so ****ing fed up with these remakes I want new stories, damn it! Just for the sake of reference, these are the films confirmed and rumored so far that are part of this new wave of live action remakes, started off by the horrendous Alice in Wonderland remake of 2010: Already released: — Maleficent (2014) — Cinderella (2015) — The Jungle Book (2016) — Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) — Beauty and the Beast (2017) — Christopher Robin (2018) — Dumbo (2019) — Aladdin (2019) Confirmed to be released/developed: — The Lion King (2019) — Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) — Lady and the Tramp (2019) — Mulan (2020) – Charming (TBA) – Cruella (TBA) — Lilo & Stitch (TBA) – Night on Bald Mountain (TBA) – Peter Pan (TBA) — Pinocchio (TBA) — Rose Red (TBA) – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (TBA) — The Hunchback of Notre Dame (TBA) — The Jungle Book 2 (TBA) — The Little Mermaid (TBA) — The Sword in the Stone (TBA) — Tinker Bell (TBA) Rumored: – Aladdin 2 (TBA) – Hercules (TBA) — Pocahontas (TBA) What do you think? dynamite 50,362
Can't they space them out a little so we don't get remakes of every film they've ever made in the same month?
mariomania1234 11,368
I guess Disney isn't capable of taking any hints. As long as their pockets are lined they don't seem too concerned with the studios artistic integrity. Sad.
Zander 14,866
I heard Scarlett Johansson was interested in the role.
Reality 72,898
Of course they'll make more live actions movies. As long as people keep going to go and see them, I don't see why they wouldn't. 𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕣, 𝕀 𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖
dit 45,723
They need to seriously re work the story to fit the 21st century standards tbh. It is probably Disney's most controversial story so they need to fix it up. But I am so excited. Pocahontas is such an emotional story for me edit: OMG I just read the real story of Pocahontas here and it is heart breaking...yeah Disney needs to not do a remake at all for this film. make a new movie with Native American characters and a new story but not this one. I knew her story was changed but I did not know it involved ALL of this...omg...truly disgusting: https://newsmaven.io/indiancountrytoday/archive/the-true-story-of-pocahontas-historical-myths-versus-sad-reality-WRzmVMu47E6Guz0LudQ3QQ/

Bio 23,538
Nope. There's no way to save this story, sorry. It's complete bullshit. Pocahontas was 10 years old while John Smith was 27. Are they gonna keep lying and romanticizing sexual abuse, kidnapping and murder?
Didymus 34,379
1 minute ago, Gracious Gaga said: it doesn't bother me really. if u don't like the movie don't watch the movie , simple as that. It doesn't just affect movies sadly It affects their entire brand. I'm more a Disney theme park fan than a Disney movie fan but the effect the recent Disney decisions are having on the parks is unprecedented and a lot of old stans are getting very frustrated That same lack of creativity is infecting every part of their empire. Instead of building new original rides (which they were known for back in their prime) they're slapping Marvel or another IP onto everything, often replacing classic, beloved attractions permanently. For casual fans, I guess it is as simple as not watching the movie and not be bothered but for the people who really fell in love with Disney as a brand, they're taking a lot of hits lately It's very Gaga-esque in a way
