Yeah charts don't necessarily equal success nowadays, too, at least as far as singles go. Charts rely very heavily on streaming, and favor stars with younger fan bases who will set up fake VPNS in different countries and set it up to stream 24/7. Someone can sell very well and still not chart very high. I mean look at Shallow. Shallow was only #1 for one week, but sold insanely well and went multi-platinum. The ASIB soundtrack is the best selling album of 2019 but it's streaming numbers are way below other albums...and it didn't stay at #1 as long as some other albums in 2018/2019 that still had far less numbers. I love Katy, too, but Witness underperformed compared to her previous albums like ARTPOP. That said, it is dumb when the media calls Witness and ARTPOP flops based of their numbers considering most other pop girls would kill for them and it's weird to call multi platinum albums flops. Secondly, not a single thing about that snippet was experimental it sounds like a typical EDM/house song with a beat drop. Nothing super grating or polarizing. Certainly not like SOPHIE or some of the more eclectic sounds of any of those producers. Thirdly, the album hasn't even been announced. It's too early to talk about flopping. Fourthly.
