imnotyourbabe10 6,100
I don't even know where to begin! ARTPOP was/is more liberating to me than BTW in some respects -- because of her "F**k you pop music, this is ARTPOP" and her radical queering of mainstream pop at that time. [Don't get me wrong, BTW is fire too!]. DWUW is fantastic as it explores the idea that you cannot take away one's spirit -- can't have my heart and mind so do whatever with my body, which is a temporary vessel. Sexual empowerment through GUY and Sexxx Dreams. Healthful, freeing use of drugs (MJH) as well as when drugs become too overpowering (Dope). Oh, and Venus is the hippie, electronic, inter-galactic sexy yet romantic bop we all needed. Would love to have that type of love in a relationship! On a personal note, AP liberated myself during a very difficult time dealing with abusive relationships (friend and an ex) and loss -- Swine really encapsulated that (though I know it is more about sexual assault and rape). The SXSW performance was beautiful. And yes, I still quote "Music not the bling" as it relates to her sometimes "bling-y" career moves (Sorry for the messy, meandering post...) That unaffected being also wore one of my favourite Gareth Pugh pieces. The ARTPOP album cycle may be a mess but Gaga made sure to give that exceptionally fabulous track the treatment it deserved and I really appreciate that. Musically, lyrically, and thematically, it’s not her best album but not her worst either, imo. OMG, I remember that video where the fan says "Gaga, listen to my CD" haha, I love how ARTPOP has so many moments for us! It is crazy how memorable some small thing is to a large group of people trolly troll troll

ReplayBoss 280
ARTPOP was truly unique and a lot more personal to her. However, critics just couldn't handle it and called it a flaw of it being unique. Also ARTPOP came out the time I needed Gaga the most and songs like Gypsy, DWUW, Applause, ect are absolute bangers. The scars on my mind are on replay, r-replay
ImTired 3,955
My favorite Gaga album. Nothing will ever beat waiting to download it the night it came out. And then getting wasted and dancing in my living room to the first listen and literally every song was better than the next. Most albums for me are slow growers, but ARTPOP was always THAT album for me from day one. I really do hope we'll get to hear more ARTPOP live one day.
