Police beat up gay man at pride in Cologne, Germany

At pride in Cologne two years ago, a gay man acted as a mediator between two arguing women at a fast food place. Instead of helping him deescalate the situation, the German police force brutally tackled and beat him down. His injuries called for an ambulance and treatment in a hospital but instead of calling a doctor, the police arrested the unconcious man, illegaly took his blood and displaced him at the backdoor of the police station at night, stripping him of his clothes, so that he wore nothing but his underwear.

The police of course tried to twist the story into their favor, accusing the victim of obstructing the police force and took the victim to court even. Two courts in Cologne declared the man to be innocent, and matter of fact called out the police for twisting the story. Prosecution and police are going into revision again, dragging the beat up man into court for a third time.

The major reason why the victim was found innocent in court, was a police officer in training confirming the victim's story and saying the police did use unneccesary violence on him. Of course, the police officer in training was fired shortly after.

The police are the main reason we started Pride so keep them at arms length during any and all celebrations tbh because this is awful.

Cops really get power hungry (wherever they got a lot of power). Police brutality is much more common than people realize. We really need to hold them accountable. This isn't even political for me. I'm not an anarchist. I believe that police can and should be reformed.

Luckily the judges did the right thing. If this were in the US, I wouldn't be so sure. Judges can be biased and very arbitrary.

I'm glad he's fighting for his truth :applause: You go, dude! If two courts already declared him innocent it's looking good for him. I can't believe the police is fighting against this instead of addressing their own mistakes and just firing the culprit :air: 2019, people. We're not there yet.

Some cops are awful but in general I made good experiences with cops in at the pride in Cologne.

He should be fired anyway, he doesn’t seem a fit for the position as a cop.

It’s security. In Germany you can’t have a demonstration without police
