And bc I agree? Literally was arguing the definition of racism all day, not whether this is racist. It literally could have been. There could have been a hint of “these whites shoulda never oppressed us bc they’re clearly lessor then blacks” + revenge, but the actions of this case don’t say they thought that. The true cause of this action should remain unanswerable if you really want to get technical. I wasn’t even the one who called this racist, but when someone else said “racism involves power” I said sumn bc it really doesn’t - racist thoughts affect power.

I been arguing all day the differences between racism and racial prejudice. Whether we agree or disagree on whether power or oppression is involved, the definition of racism requires one to have a belief of superiority. “What ifs” and “there could be” argument don’t really support anything when it’s more likely than not that the organizers of the event raised the ticket price of non poc because of revenge and hatred toward white for events that happen in the past. Detroit is a heavily populated black city. It not that uncommon to believe a lot of black people there have hatred and resentment toward non poc there. Not wanting nonpoc there based on hatred is different from not wanting them there because every poc is better white people.

We are arguing two different things here. You are arguing definition, and I’m arguing that this case doesn’t fit in any definition of the word

@Wigless

One of many issues here is you arguing semantics for the sole purpose of proving yourself right and others wrong,  which indicates an inferiority complex (google is YOUR best friend, right?) for which I sympathize greatly. However, the main issues at hand here are not your unwarranted and desperate display of superior intelligence and flawed understanding of perspective and sociology, or semantics, but the fact many cannot tell the difference here between systemic oppression and racial prejudice, where the latter is  more glaringly demonstrated here, I believe this decision was made to create a "safe space" for the minority and deter culture vultures and the like, though that is not justification. However, I'd like to note I could be very wrong and this could just be sheer prejudice and discrimination. I'm no sociology scholar, true, but I'm a VERY dedicated psychology scholar and I see right through you.

“Not wanting nonpoc there based on hatred is different from not wanting them there because every poc is better white people” are both racist tho bc racism can be hateful and egotistical, but yeah I think I agree with everything else. Altho I’m pretty sure we were both arguing about definitions but yeah no I really had to high jack bc you can’t classify something without a classification.

Also on that note, I can say on a psychological level that subconscious prejudice and discrimination exists which though quite evident externally, can be quite subtle for said person, which leads to systemic oppression Using@Craven Moorecox 's example if it comes down to an employer choosing two employees with the exact same credentials and resume, said employee choosing Kaitlin over Juquanda  MAY be taken as discriminatory, though it is possible said employer has never had a conscious prejudicial act or thought in their life towards anyone. This is one of many reasons systemic oppression exists yet is called out least. We inherently have preconceived notions of people and their characteristics based off of the intel we have gathered, the events we have experienced and how we have been raised over our ENTIRE life times. That causes us to  instinctly react to everything differently.Which might disprove the notion that conscious racial prejudice is the root of systemic oppression.  Perhaps the actions of the minorities are, though that is not exactly my argument personally, take it from a Colombian-African-American. I've seen REAL racial prejudice.

P.S. forgive my novel :sharon:

Oh my god not again.

Google isn’t my best friend, the dictionary is. Don’t get hung up on the medium, if I had the physical book I’d use that (although probably would be outdated and un-editable :/)

And Ma what? Inferiority complex? This literally isn’t about looking smart for my ego, some of y’all are just not correct.

And okay at you coming into a debate with no arguments... only character insults.

(...which would’nt even matter in a discussion about logistics, it’s whoever is right/more convincing.)

@WiglessAnd then you try to invalidate my argument by choosing to both misread it (or maybe you misread it plainly, I suggest you reread because my stance on the issue was quite explicit, reading skills yikes) and elevate the  attempted invalidation further by insinuating that me critiquing your belligerent disposition is evidence of a lack of a knowledge of the issue at hand, while also using a gif that isn't very funny at all. Darling, "y'all" is plural including "they" and "you" and rest assured I am definitely correct but I'm not sure the same can be said for you.  Just know that there is a distinct difference between systemic oppression and racial prejudice, I suggest you read the novel I posted above. Yes sunshine, whether you admit it or not, or know it or not, I can tell you by the manner and wording of your responses you feel like you have something to prove:oops: . You will not disrespectfully discredit my major like you have others either, because I will absolutely school you.

interesting, because I'm sure when a person of color is called a racial slur, thats all they feel is the historical context and power of white people. this, what you've just said, shows entitlement. you really feel the audacity to compare the situations? you may be able to ignore the history but those affected by it can't....

yes, I compare those situations because they are the same.

If I get called white piece of trash or when I'd call someone a black piece of trash it's the same thing with same consequences. You can't create double standards because something happened in history. It only divides society and doesn't help any progress.

I'm not saying history doesn't matter. We all should look back and reflect on what was happening.

Wow, there’s a lot to unpack here...

Firstly, who asked for your ad hominems?  Get it together oh my god. Coming into a convo out of nowhere just to insult people ma’am please the report button is right there. Idek why it’s being upvoted bc that doesn’t make any argument more or less valid.

Secondly, if you want to argue about the issue at hand, you’re a little late bc literally what else can be said?

Thirdly, I don’t care about making you laugh. It’s more for me tbh.

Fourth, just because people use slang doesn’t mean they don’t know the proper way to speak.

And lastly, woah luv, you’re literally arguing something out of left field. Systemic oppression and racial prejudice are not the same thing, if you think I’m saying that then idk where you got that from. BUT Systemic oppression can be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. If you’re trying to say not all oppression is racist, go off but I didn’t say the contrary. If you’re gonna argue that this case specifically isn’t racially oppressive, then maybe so, but it’s definitely systemic oppression of another, more micro way.

I’m sure you’re smart in other ways and areas but I don’t see it jumping out here. Don’t tell me you’re paying thousands to professionally bring people down instead of lifting them up. I stan a good therapist. Not this.

If I WAS your paid psychotherapist/psychologist I'd be trying to rebuild your evidently shattered self esteem through use of psychotherapy, and if I was your paid psychiatrist I'd probably be prescribing you some depressant so you don't tragically end your own life over self esteem issues. (I don't know much about the latter)The difference here is you are just some belligerent and rude person I met over the internet who , quite frankly, really isn't that hard to psychoanalyze and therefore are not priviledged to a cordial or dainty response from my part. But nice try again discrediting me with flawed logic by trying to taint my knowledge. It's also quite telling how you tried to use psychology to discredit a psychologist, but here or there, I'm glad to see you confirming more or less that I am correct but I cannot say I enjoyed sinking to your level and at this point I also look quite egotistical but the manner of which you spoke to other members here, frankly, bothered me.

OT: This is definitely a result of systemic oppression but not an example of it. There is also a distinct difference there.

Well thankfully you’re not bc I’d really not be here for unraveling my entire life in front of a person like you.

Yes I’m using some psychology against you, and what about it? You think everyday people can’t say a word to you about the basics? Say sike bc Jesus Christ that’s gross. It’s the basic **** most people get that I’m using and yet you’re still getting cancelled over it girl y i k e s.

+ sis? What’s the point of you bringing up being belligerent and rude when that’s also you? Yum, hypocrisy. And then you try and justify it? “You’re not worth a cordial response” ma please I don’t have much respect for you so don’t tell me that, thinking I do. Definitely not earning it like this. I’m just so caught of guard lmaooo. Things were cooling down, read the room.

So basically your thesis is, “hoes mad,” but you’re also offended if you think I’m being being rude... all these paragraphs and nothing ground breaking... oof.

I feel like psychoanalyzing the other person who tries to argue against fact is a much more worthwhile flex of your efforts but you do you I guess.

OT: Care to explain? Why would you not make an example of the result? Pretty sure those two concepts are close to each other.

I’m just sad like... I really want there to be a push for more kids to grow up to be councilors so society can be happier bc literally everyone needs help... and you’re out here using this knowledge to bring people characters down...

and for what? Bc I said something to someone else that offends you? Just say “**** you” in laymen’s terms sir this is pathetic.

Get your self esteem in check if you randomly go out of your way trying to show strangers how smart you are for literally $0.
