So they really did go there, it wasn't just rumour. Every live action Disney adaption has kept faithful to the ethnic origins of the originals, apart from this one.

I'm pretty sure Ariel's ethnicity is Mermaid.

What's next? Casting a black girl for Mulan role? It's not about being racist. To those who are pro this choice, you guys will be mad if the other way around, casting white or asian for a black person role.

some of y’all need to read this

Well... but the little mermaid story is part of Denmark isn't it? . Mermaid or not, there is even a statue dedicated to her in Denmark. She also lives in Atlantis which is a myth from Greek origin.

I'm cool with this.  Halle is gorgeous and can sing. I love her face, it reminds me a bit of Ariel. Her eyes transpire curiosity if you know what I mean.

But I also have to agree that if we are nitpicking, The little mermaid is a European fairy tale and it's weird for her to be black. But I don't believe in  cultural appropriation. I think culture and traditions are something to share and appreciate. In that light I do believe that Halle deserves to be Ariel. Wishing her the best.

Your thoughts would be valid if they were doing a live adaptation of The hans version.

y’all can seethe cause she doesn’t have white skin. I can’t wait to happily be in the theater supporting the movie.

Lawd I got too many puntos de advertencia so let me be quiet and just say a petition is not going to change anything

Halle already signed ha contract she is ARIEL

And ? Contract can be broken. If it's continue to grows up, Disney will do something, cause at the end of the day they want money  and success and we all know that money (for them) is more important than a person.

Just like you because you didn't open your mouth when Disney announced Elle Fanning as Aurora, Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Naomi Scott as Jasmin, Emma Watson as Belle...

You open your mouth only because they announced a black actress, if they announced Ariel as white, you would do NOTHING. The real racist is you, not me !

I would have b*tched about Ariel being the potential representation she could have been.
When white women have advantages over black women in Hollywood is in fact not racist to acknowledge the lack of representation. You’re trying to spread a petition to fire a black woman for being casted as a fish because of her talent. She obviously went against Zendaya (A seasoned Actress) and won against her. Re-evaluate yourself before you want to read baby.

Well, she kinda look like a fish so I am slowly liking this choice and it is actually a good one, I think the role will be more genuine and authentic with her.
