Well you know the good thing about imagining stuff? You can always imagine different 😍😍

Maybe if Hermione was black in the movies too, but she wasn't

Anytime whitewashing gets brought up on this site, it’s always “get over it, they’re fictional characters!!! Stupid sjws!!” But the moment a mermaid is played by a black woman, all hell breaks loose :ladyhaha:

I can’t with this site. It’s always the same people.

Are we surprised on w******ydaily :toofunny:

Not that I have a problem with the casting, but the book does say Ariel has rose-coloured skin and had red hair.

And the bible says that gays should go to hell. :poot:

This isn’t the Andersen version, but the Disney version. Like the Andersen version is way more different than this one. Disney can do whatever they want to, to their stories. they’ve been doing that since our childhood, so they can do it again. None of the Disney movies are the same as the Grimm and Anderson stories, it’s just Disney their interpretation, so that point shouldn’t be valid.

So get a rose colored person to lay the role then? Also its called acting for a reason? Don’t actors wear wigs when they’re playing a role? Or is every blonde played by an actual blonde person? Didn’t think so

I was just telling that person who seems to be uninformed about what the book says and why people expected some one of the sort. Why you mad?

Does it matter? Damage is done

And I ain’t got a problem with that. Just telling you why some of them are expecting someone like the Ariel described in the book or the Ariel in the animation.

if they're mad about that, then why are they even here? this isn't a live action version of the Anderson story. there are tons of those for people who want that. this is a live action version of the Disney film meaning they can change whatever it is they please.

the unmarked category of whiteness in western culture jumping out left and right and being rendered transparent af on this thread. oh well :lolly: anyway, as long as the singing is good and the hair is red, i'm okay.

If the hair isn't red, there will be hell to pay.  :triggered:

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Not only can it be done, it can look amazing!!

I feel like I read somewhere that she would not have red hair, and that chloe grace mortez was gonna play her... i remember being disapointed by the no red hair as it is iconic but i guess those were simply rumors since the lead actress changed too

Why don’t you ask them why they’re here? All I did was tell that person why people expected a white-ish Ariel. Why you mad?

I'm not mad but since you were speaking for them, thought I'd ask you.

Kind of disappointed. Not for me but for all of the gingers that adored her character. My little cousin has red hair and growing up you could see her face light up that she could have her own Disney princess character(BTW she would still wear a bigger red wig when she dressed up as her so it’s not about that). Love the idea behind doing this but it sucks for the people that felt represented. Don’t mean this in a bad way but wish they would have released the Princess and the Frog as a live action movie before this one so they could keep her ginger. It’s hard not to see this as a calculated move for diversity but maybe just make more leading characters of color. Don’t have to change them when it’s not necessary.
