wow thanks . i don't really listen to Jpop but will try it.

do you like listening to japanese rock music just wondering

or am i the only one here:ohno:

I enjoy BABYMETAL and a few other songs / bands I've heard. can you recommend me some maybe more on the harder side but still melodic? Not too keen on a lot of screaming either. I've been wanting to get more into Japanese Rock/Metal for a while now, because they have such unique sounds and also really amazing imagery to go along with it.

I have never met a K-Pop fan who is a casual listener and not some crazy stan. My point is, I feel like active K-Pop listeners are in it partially for  the music but to them it is mostly about fitting in with friends and having an online community you can relate and actively participate with.

east/southeast asia has a lot of casual listeners. It’s played everywhere here.

Tho I agree that *some* kpop stans are annoying. *Cough* BTS stans :saladga:

Wait until you see BLACKPINK stans. Get back at us, and you’ll see US ROAR OVER YOU AND TRY DRAGGING YOU. And this is coming from one.

I don't like k-pop....But i don't HATE it. Sometimes there is a song which is actually nice. But it will never be my favorite genre, or that I will become a fan of a k-pop "band" or something.

And besides, I don't hate people who like k-pop. Just be yourself :)

Pretty sure Kpop is just advertising for plastic surgery. Speaking of which, is South Korea still the world’s number one market for plastic surgery? :trollga: :huntyga: :queenga: :messga: :bye:

Yes I do! I’m total sucker for instrumentation and musicality, and Japanese music excels at that. Some of the most memorable and emotionally charged music compositions come from Japan.

Here are some some my favourite albums and tracks, if you’d like to check them out:

Albums:

Spoiler

Pop Rock/Alternative

Post/Punk

Post/Rock Math Rock

Alternative Rock/Post Hardcore

Psychedelic Folk

(This one is not rock but it’s one of my favourite albums ever, nothing makes me feel quite like it)

Noise Rock/Psychedelic Rock

(If you feel like listening to something heavy and suffocating)

Tracks:

Spoiler

Punk/Alternative

Rock

Alternative Rock/Dream Pop

Alternative Rock

Math Rock

Bonus English track by a Japanese band

Alternative Rock/Synth Pop/Chillwave

As for J-pop, I would say maybe start with Mondo Grosso (Electro House/Pop) and then branch out from there.

I would also recommend these three:

Spoiler

Yoshiko Sai

(Bossa Nova/Psychedelic Folk/Jazz/Art Pop)

-

Taeko Ohnuki

Pop/Funk/Soul/Jazz

-

And for something different, Haruomi Hosono

Exotica/Electronic/Jazz/Pop

I live in Canada and over here you won't find many casual listeners of K-Pop. Most people either do not listen to it at all or are some crazy stan (more in it for the drama and sense of belonging and identity rather than the music).

which is completely understandable bc it’s not in asia, and asian culture isn’t as impactful in western countries, unlike asia.

but people here, even those i knew hated k-pop back then, now have more than a couple of songs in their playlists

ok here are some japanese rock song with have strong elements of pop in it

this is a classic 70s kinda rock song

you loved this one below tho it's pick a kind of melodic soft rock song

it,s by Miwako Okuda

this one is also rock but has a mixtures of japanese and english lyrics

this one below reminds of Evanescence tho

sorry i don't know many songs with metal in it either

the thing with Japanese songs is that 98% of the good or noticeable ones are always located in their anime or tv shows

i also posted more songs earlier in this thread check those out to

that's why it would kinda take time to find a good one

I LOVE that X-Japan song I must say! I have heard a few of their songs before, and they are actually quite good. I will check the rest of these out soon. Thanks!

Anyway. Listen to BTS's playlists on spotify because they have good music taste.

And those are just 3 out of 7. Jin has shallow on his playlist. I thought y'all loved whoever loved gaga? BTS love gaga.

I can't stand k-pop. I don't like Asia in general, even though my mom comes from Asia. I most certainly don't like the Korean language. Or Japanese. Or Chinese.

Not to mention that the stans are often quite often very annoying

Uhm no, I as a Little Monster still chose who I stan. Do you really think people or I would stan Donald Trump if he somehow admits that he's a Little Monster? No
