Even with DACA, the standards and rules to follow are quite strict and stringent (I've worked with immigration firms and the government before). There's this weird idea that it's just like, "Woohoo! Let 'em in!" when in reality the U.S. has some of the stricter immigration laws in the western world (can't speak to east). Believe me when I say no one wants open borders, but we do need to amend our system to account for the illegal people here. If we're going to be interventionist globally, we have to also be accountable for the refugees inevitably displaced. Plus, the american economy would collapse without illegal immigration. Now, I'm not in favor of illegal immigration, but why don't we look at the reality of the situation and say, "ok let's amend our system because we *need* easier passage of migrants for our country to grow." That's what dems are doing. Looking at the reality of the situation and assessing the needs of the country, its citizens, and moral good. Plus, if we can amend the laws, we can also better monitor those here who might have some sort of dangerous record vs clean rather than rn where every illegal immigrant hides as much as possible to not draw attention to themselves. We need to know who is here, should be here (i.e. can contribute positively to the U.S.), and who poses a threat. Having a more comprehensive system does that. I feel as though it would help with all the in-group (and out-group) bickering and solve the problem of "voting for the lesser evil." Also, with the democrats. Can us Dems finally get behind Bernie (who has had a very consistent voting and activism record?) and/or Warren (who "has a plan for that")? We literally only have two choices in this country. And you don’t have to agree with everything a candidate says even if you voted for them. Trump won because of this. Conservatives didn’t have any other choice in their view even if they thought the man was an idiot. And many vote red no matter who it is (literally).
