But can we actually trust that he said this..? I mean look at the source, Breitbart of ALL places lmao so I’m not jumping to conclusions yet.

He did say that but last year. That site is probably reusing what he said to generate clicks and ****.

I think it's easy to choose to misconstrue what is being said here.

Clearly, the Dalai Lama is not racist or xenophobic .

I think he is just claiming that Europe should remain (in terms of majorities) European, and Africa should remain, well... African. It's kind of just common-sense, no?

He isn't saying that Europe should be anti-immigrant, or that Europe should suddenly close it's doors to Africans or Muslims. I think he's just highlighting how there are cultural differences that would be incompatible on a mass / majority level.

Muslim immigrants, for example, are absolutely welcome in Europe (and in other Western, modern countries) because they chose to migrate to a Western country. Their worldview is absolutely consistent with the country they live in - they are modern citizens.

But if Europe were to suddenly stop being majority European (which would clearly *never* happen, and isn't close to happening either) - it would surely be a continent of many incompatibles, you know? The continent would be culturally divided, and it would become a place lacking in consensus.

And of course, the exact same could be applied to the scenario of Western Christians suddenly becoming  a majority (60% / 40%) in, say, India, for example.

There's nothing controversial here in my opinion... I think it's just a generally messy point to raise when, clearly, Europe will never not be majority European. And an increase in the Muslim population is not indicative of otherwise.

Spoiler

I hope that no one is offended by my post. I am just trying to understand the Dalai's point that there are cultural differences in this world that would prevent any culture becoming a totally new culture - or at least doing so peacefully and productively.

I am *not* saying that Muslim migrants erode European / Western culture at all.

That shocked me to the core tbh. I didn't know he was that ****ing uneducated and ignorant.

"Their own land", Europe is now apparently not Muslim what kind of historically incorrect bs is he on about :lmao: That is so embarrassing.

Sorry pal, Western culture evolved from the Near East and Islam has been an integral part of Europe culturally, economically, politically and ideologically since the ****ing Middle Ages :rip:

What's the point even of spouting this nonsense when Western imperialism has illegitimately taken over the whole ****ing planet. Pick up a ****ing history book people, this ain't no game.

He’s 100% right. In the long run this would happen, especially if the birth rates of migrants continue to be way higher than of native Europeans.

This! Can we all just agree that globalization is real and nothing new but it's happening for centuries now for a lot of different reasons??!! I don't think we'll have this sense of "this land/folk" or "that land/folk" in the future

Thank you!

Idk why people still have something against Islam and Muslim. **** can come from any religion and any ethnicity.

Sorry but I don’t see a problem with what he said. He’s not supporting Europeans to be xenophobic or anti-immigrant. Just to be mindful that too much will lead Europe to being a non-European continent. If Europeans continue to have low birth rates and continue to accept high numbers of immigrants, common sense says that down the road Europeans will become minorities in their own continent.

You do realize there are Muslim Europeans who didn't necessarily come from the Middle East. Just because someone is Muslim, doesn't mean they're an Arab or from the Middle East. :wtf:  Anyone can be/become whatever they ****ing want to be.
