Idk I don't see much harm would yall be more satisfied if he called him brotha?  but for real if you don't know someone's name and have to describe them you use their physical features. Imagine he said the black haired guy from The Wire  that wouldn't be offensive but also I'd wanna know how many people would go straight to the African American person. Also he can't use African American because Idris isn't American  I do t think he intended it to be a racial thing... It's what we as society do and read into everything to be offensive. Especially since he's a part of minority too

I don’t know who this is, but:

he seems really dumb

black guy is not offensive (African American has been out of popular use to describe black people for some time now)

it’s still disrespectful to not know his name and just refer to him as “the black guy from the wire”

Of course there isn't, and I'll hold myself accountable if it sounded like I was letting things slide. I guess I just anticipated much more vitriol/slurs than a bad descriptor. Both not good, of course.
