I used to be all "oh, here's an olive branch, let's work together as left and right to find a solution that works for both of us" but I refuse to compromise with people who are ok with stripping gays of their rights, trans* of their validity, women of their body autonomy, PoC of their protections, the sick of their healthcare, the hungry of their food, children of their education, immigrants of their freedoms and/or lives, our planet of its environment, etc etc. The list goes on.

Republicans are nothing but obstructionists who got in Obamas way at every turn when he was president. You can’t negotiate with people who think climate change is a hoax, who hate immigrants and are ok with tens of thousands of people dying every year that don’t have access to affordable healthcare. They fvcking denied Obama’s Supreme Court Justice pick for gods sake.

The only way the Republican’s constituents are ever going to wake up is when a strong Progressive gets into the Presidency. Progressive ideals cut across party lines because they benefit the working class, a class that both Republicans and Democrats have disregarded for decades now.

I was saying "AT THAT TIME". Do you read your own articles? It was talking about when Joe Biden was vice president in 2011 when republicans controlled the house and thus controlled the budget.

I know that but I wasn’t talking about 2011. Could you keep up with our conversation? My last post was referring to the present not the past. The politics of 2019 are vastly different than the politics of 2011.

We're pissed that a CEO can collect $16 million in salary+benefits a year but they'll have their ground level workers being paid $7.50 an hour.

It's not about people being well off, it's about a few people being allowed to own over half the wealth in this country while millions starve.

Sh*t, in my company I had to piss and moan,complain, and threaten to quit just to make over $10 an hour in a management position. Workers had to do the same to get benefits extended to part time workers and get more hours allotted to us. Meanwhile, our CEO pays himself 8 million in salary alone with millions more in "benefits".

Any system that allows that sh*t needs to go.

It is crazy to me how people can see how bad our income inequality is in America and not give a damn about trying any kind of fundamental change. That takes a lot of privilege and ignorance.

Again you still don’t get why Trump won last time and you are setting yourself up for failure if you think Hillary 2.0 is going to win. Hillary lost last time, why do you think Biden would do any better? 

In reality, the Democratic electorate is both ideologically and demographically diverse. Over all, around half of Democratic-leaning voters consider themselves “moderate” or “conservative,” not liberal. Around 40 percent are not white. (This is where Super Tuesday makes a big difference in the primaries and what will eventually turn Texas, GA and Florida purple states)

Roughly a quarter of Democrats count as ideologically consistent progressives. Only a portion of them, perhaps 1 in 10 Democrats over all, might identify as Democratic socialists, based on recent polls.

Traditional liberals — another relatively white, well-educated bloc of Democrats — are overrepresented on social media. They’re united with the progressive activists on the issues that divide Republicans and Democrats. They split on whether American society is fundamentally and unacceptably unjust, with liberals optimistic about compromise and satisfied with a cautious approach, and progressives demanding bolder action to redress injustice in society. They are vocal...but do not represent the majority.

The Democratic Party has moved to the left in recent years. It has moved far enough left that there’s plenty of room for a progressive candidate to win the nomination.

But it would be a mistake to assume that outrage on social media means outrage throughout the broader electorate. And it would be a mistake to assume that more moderate Democrats are out of step with the party’s electorate.
