My family is close to Coimbra and that's also the area I used to live in as a kid so it's the part of Portugal I know best I travelled a few times to Porto, Lisboa, and been to agueda, Figueira da Fox, Tomar and a few other cities I don't remember their names. I've also been atraz dos montes once to visit a couple we knew. Talk about the end of the world But Coimbra and cities and towns around there is the area I know best I'm from Lisbon! Coimbra is a beautiful city, been there a few months ago. The historical centre has that medieval shape with the narrow and labyrinthine streets, actually very similar to Lisboa's Alfama (Alfama is bigger though of course). And you have Quinta das Lágrimas, the beautiful place of Pedro and Inês's love affair, the tomb of the first king of Portugal, the tomb of Queen Saint Isabel, and of course the iconic university. The mountains close to Coimbra have beautiful places. I think Lousã/Talasnal are worth the visit., beautiful scenario. Conimbriga, with the roman ruins, is also fascinating if you like that. But come to Lisbon, it has become one of the major destinations for tourism in Europe. Everything's cleaner, there's so much to see and do. And, of course, you have Sintra. Porto is also a vibrant city nowadays!! And very postcard-like. Yes, Trás-os-Montes is literally the nowhere but the countryside is always beautiful. And I've always had the idea that (specially given how big the country is) Canada was the perfect place to truly find those little cities in the middle of nowhere, literally days away from the big cities

She's always busy tho. Last time I visited Portugal she invited me for lunch and after 45 minutes she had to leave And yes it was beautiful that I remember And yes nice mountains like Serra do Bussaco and Serra do Caramulho. Bussaco is not that tall a mountain but it has beautiful prepared trails and gardens! Dunno if I'll get a chance to go to Lisbon but I'll try. It's gonna be my wife's first time to Portugal! Yeah I've seen it on YouTube and internet I'd also like to take her to Grutas de Mira d'airo which I went to once and is amazing I also went to this massive castle once as a kid that was basically a town inside but I honestly can't remember what it's called or where it is I also have a lot of memories of other amazing places I went to in Pofrugal as a kid my parents took me and my brother's to but I honestly can't remember the name of most of them or where they were And I can't ask my dad cuz my memories of most of them are somewhat vague to describe properly

It's the most popular, but Portugal still has a lot of inside-walls towns. Even the castle of Lisbon, which in in the middle of the city, has a little town inside it. Europe in general really is a beautiful place to visit. We have so much History everywhere.

The US healthcare system literally costs way more than the Canadian system despite being run by the government If u look at the per capita cost difference, it's huge Not only do hospitals have to have their profit margin added into costs but then so do third parties like insurance companies Whatever efficiency is lost by the government running it I think is still worth it tbh This makes sense. The problem is that when government income is lower than expected, what are people to do when they cut funding for these services that they become so dependent on? Look at the NHS in the UK, it good but not great and currently is unsustainable at the moment. You're comparing countries with smaller populations compared to the US which has 380 million people. A major problem in the US is big pharma which lobbies like hell in Washington. Am I suppose to pay increased taxes to fund a hypothetical universal Healthcare system that the democrats have been proposing for since forever? That makes no sense because big pharma always win regardless which party is in power. Lets see some legislation being passed to prevent inflation of prices in healthcare with smaller profit margins then I'll be like okay we could trust the government with more of our money. Until then it's a no from me regarding universal Healthcare for every medical problem but then again this is just my opinion. The great thing about the US is that we can afford it though, but corruption is rampant and a concept like Universal Healthcare requires strict strategic policing that quite frankly both democrats and Republicans are in my view are incapable of doing. Big or small is irrelevant. What matters is the per capita costs... A country with 10X the population as another will have 10X the expenses but also 10X the ppl paying taxes Anyway ur partially hitting on something I've said a million times... Socialist programs or socialism in general can only be successful if the government is efficient at using the increased amount of resources it government instead of the private sector So if a government is terrible at running healthcare yeah there's gonna be a lot of waste In general tho I prefer it. The US system is actually just so expensive. Not worth it What ever efficiencies the US might have that we don't here in Canada due to private sector running it obviously isn't enough to offset the profit margins of health care providers as well as costs of third parties like insurance providers cuz the per capita costs are WAY higher
