The13thNote 1,390
With Billboard updating their Hot 100 single chart today and hip-hop-country crossover "Old Town Road (Remix)" by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus smashing at the top of the chart for its tenth week at #1, is it possible that Interscope is playing it smart and waiting for the sleeper hit to hit cruise control and finally leave town before having Gaga step out with her highly anticipated #LG6 lead? It is safe to say so. After the dud performance of Taylor Swift's lead single "ME!" failing to stay near her usual power-grab chart performance, and the luke warm reception of Katy Perry's and Miley Cyrus' pop releases, (Perry's "Never Really Over" debuts at #15 while Miley's 6 track LP "She Is Coming" failed to have a single chart in the Top 40) it is fair to say that the pop "slayage" is more in line with the "hip-pop/r&b" swagger of 2019 smash acts like Ariana Grande and Halsey. Interestingly enough, Cardi B's lead "Press" entered mildly to say the least, sliding in just behind Perry at #16. So in all this anti-climactic pop landscape right now, Lady Gaga stands in a rare position...one that could work in her favor or shift her among the likes of her other pop contemporaries. She is coming off perhaps a second career peak after beating many of even her own fans' speculation and scoring a massive #1 hit with Bradley Cooper assisted "Shallow". But in the age of streaming juggernauts, will good press and likeability be enough? Perhaps this is why the big Gaga lead is so special this time around. Her last two previous leads were coming off what was seen as dwindling eras, so things could be completely different this time. But there are two big factors that might help Gaga's next big move land her at the crown top of the charts: Will her next sound be something radio wants to play out? And will her next sound captivate young Gen Z streamers on big music applications like Spotify and Apple Music? The rollout so far for Gaga is up in the air. We know it is coming. Just not when. But we do know one thing....and that is Old Town Road needs to hit the hay for Gaga to properly secure her well-deserved magnum opus again. Maybe that is what her label is waiting for after all: the right time for that proper "comeback single". Who knows? If she plays her cards right in this game of chart Russian Roulette, she might be able to pull off another Poker Face once again. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8515148/lil-nas-x-old-town-road-number-one-hot-100-tenth-week?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social
RAMROD 110,267
Perhaps Gaga is not waiting for anything. Perhaps the album not even finished yet. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ What it meant to be content with you (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Honestly I feel like it has to be nearly done. The pregnancy comment was months ago and the album should be in the final stages if it is going to mixed, mastered, and promoted properly by Fall. Are you saying that her label is going to rush out the album over the summer that she has been working on for ages?
CommonWhiteGirl 1,039
I highly doubt it. I don't really think she cares too much about chart positions anymore. If anything she's either fine tuning the final specs or waiting for her label to do all the legal shenanigans.
TheRealJT 2,291
Short answer: no Gaga’s team never cares about releases and never really have strategy. They’ll release it randomly in the fall like usual

She seems to have always get new ideas and dropped songs that been recorded months prior. Or even change the whole sounds of the same song. Both wouldn't be a first time for her. So the fact she had been recording since last year is no guarantee at all that the album are close to finish. They do not plan out the releases in a way to maximize chart performance, but spaz out and switch singles when a random promo track starts to get traction... So when Gaga did a live Bud Light facebook promo for weeks, went on the Late Late Show, did SNL, went on every major radio station in LA and NYC, did a Ryan Seacrest live countdown, and had massive spotify promo banners....it was because she wanted Perfect Illusion to debut at #15? This isn't The Cure. This also isn't even Perfect Illusion. Even with Joanne's lead being promoted like crazy for two weeks it was coming off a jazz covers era and before that an era that comparitively tanked so bad the media hated her. And it was her personal album that was anti-radio. She is now coming off arguably the most succesful era of her career and one that got her a number one and an oscar. If you actually think that her label is going to just casually release her, their biggest artist's lead without strategy when they have the chance of making millions.....you're outright delusional or were never here during The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and ARTPOP eras and know how her team works. There is a reason they brought back Nicola, hunties. Its not to make another country era.
Boris2 9,239
She had a huge chance after Shallow hit #1 and no major single was in the horizon. Ari & Justin are coming this summer so that’s a big competition for the top spot. At this point, I can expect her to release for the fall and focus on sales rather than chart success. monsieurRed 299
Gaga has never been a summer single kind of girl. She’s never released a lead single at the begin of the summer. Since TFM she’s released in the fall (C2C was borderline September). If she keeps this pace LG6 might not be here until October or November. 🧚♀️

And she's stated a million and a half times she hates being used for money so I doubt she gives a sh*t about what her label thinks. I think she would be elated with a #1 but she won't be lawyering up if she doesn't . All-in-all she doesn't care who's at the top of the charts. She'll release at the same time as Adele if she chooses. It's just a matter of when her material is complete.
