You know that in order to get a certification you need to sell, right? And be promoted also. Interscope can get messy about updating sales and stuff but has been pretty decent at promoting her since she's one of their biggest artists.  They've also given her artistic freedom when it comes to her projects. She's good where she is.

Gag is big enough so Atlantic and especially BMG will give her the freedom she needs. Only Atlantic is kinda known for meddling with debut albums and if that sold well you're free to go. They won't mess with Gaga.

Also, even if they update everything she won't reach 100M in the US so what's really the point? Pleasing stan twitter? Please...

Why not certify? I'm sure that Interscope doesn't certify and withholds information about this so they can hold their artists in small contracts. If Gaga had her entire discography fully certified she could press much more against Interscope management than she can now and Interscope tries to weaken her position.

I appreciate your input guys in the discussion about the record labels and stuff but you can't really do that without knowing *the details* of Gaga's own deal. Those details are vital to any and every discussion about Interscope and their approach to Gaga (or any other artist).

Sorry but to have 25M  of un-certified singles/albums is a LOT.

Okay but Gaga herself clearly doesn't care, so why would we?

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?

There are many important factors that should be taken into consideration when choosing a label, and certifications are not one of them.

I really doubt that she will get the same freedom elsewhere. I mean, we know she's bossy but Atlantic especially is known for her non-risk-taker artists...

Also I'm pretty sure Interscope and Gaga herself have access to her sales data, even with no certification. Maybe they need to do some math before but I believe that information is easily available

Pleasing GGD is no different than pleasing stan twitter, sadly we're the same breed...

Which is why I haven't really brought them up. My reasons for her new label were quite reasonable (I hope :selena:)

To be clear, I wasn't saying Gaga needs a new label, just pointed out that Atlantic Records is doing a better job than Interscope when it comes to certifications.

Is Small Talk really 2:42? This trend of short songs smells.

I mean, at the end of the day songs were ~3:30 minutes long to be suitable for radio, now they’re doing it for Spotify streams, which is logical from a commercial perspective... but still.

Streaming isn't a good medium for singles in general. The shorter the better to addict the listener. It's a painful cynical process and OH FREAKING HELL WHY DOES MADONNA RAP!!?!?!!?

Where was I?

The general public doesn't seem to really care and it's better for record labels because they get the same money with less work put into a song and unlike with MP3 where people had to physically/digitally buy a song, streaming just makes songs more disposable.

Why are all of you saying that Interscore is the worst? Have y'all heard of a label called RCA?

There's a reason why nobody listed this as option for Gaga :selena:

From 2005 to 2009 there was a Billboard chart call Pop 100. It's last #1 was Lady Gagas Poker Face which spent 2 weeks at the top before it got discontinued :hor:
