Less than a week after the new live-action Swamp Thing show debuted on the DC Universe streaming platform, word has come that it’s already been canceled.

First is creative differences, as producer James Wan wanted Swamp Thing to be a gory, body-horror story, while executives were looking for something more in line with a dark procedural. Len Wiseman was brought on to direct in hopes of steering things towards the latter, but apparently it was enough to satisfy top brass.

WarnerMedia is reevaluating its streaming strategies, specifically in regards to the sustainability and subscription rates of the DC Universe service.

Wait, so they already filmed and released it, but said, "nevermind, we take it back"

DC Universe is already pulling the plug on Swamp Thing

UPDATE: As pointed out by John Gholson on Twitter, there seems to be a very clear and simple reason for Swamp Thing’s troubles, and it’s all about tax credits. As laid out in a thread, the series was filmed in North Carolina, with the state initially promising a $40 million (or so) tax rebate that would’ve accounted for half of the show’s first-season budget. Due to some kind of “paperwork error,” the state couldn’t come through with that money. Once the error was noticed, the money actually came out to just $12 million, which is noticeably less than $40 million. It’s just a theory, but this seems like enough justification for why the order was cut and why the show won’t be coming back.

Oh... the gaggery...

LOL they did wrong strategy by only make each episode available weekly. Ain't nobody paying subscription got time for that! People can watch TV for that. The idea of streaming sites is that people want to binge on it. :smh:

Warner better make Harry Potter series, make it as detail and as close the book as they can be,  that will be more sure to bring them revenue than DCEU honestly.
