what do you want GGD to be?

I've been laying a bit low a couple weeks, lurking and not interacting much because I find that shutting myself off from feeling the need to react with posts often allows me to let go of negative stuff much faster.  It's a worthwhile technique if you find yourself getting affected too negatively by proceedings.

We see posts arguing both sides of "being positive" vs "being critical" and all make some worthwhile points.   

In some ways though this comes down to what you, the fanbase, want GGD to be.  Possibilities may include the following:

1.  A place where old fans and new fans can be excited to discuss what they love about their favorite artist without negativity.  It's probably unrealistic to expect GGD to be the "happy fan place", but it would be nice if somehow a "safe zone" would be available for people to talk about what they like without some negative nancy bringing things down.   Because if you look in pretty much every thread here that starts at a positive place, somebody always brings it down. GGD does provide this at times, but I admit I feel sorry for new fans many times that find their way to GGD.  They may be all excited about discovering a place to talk about an artist they just discovered, but they get here and see thread after thread of criticism and complaint.  Especially during these "inbetween" cycles, fans get tired of talking about good stuff and the conversation swings negative.  It happens every time.  

2.  A Gaga discussion zone with respectful criticism.   This is probably where most of us would like to see GGD.   There is room for respectful criticism, but many complaints on this site do not fall in that category, no matter how much people try to claim "constructive." You can suggest things you'd like to see differently without trashing Gaga and her team.   There are many decisions that go into Gaga's actions that none of us are privy too.   There is no reason whatsoever for anyone to trash her team or decisions because nobody knows the entire background.   There is also no reason to trash her based on aesthetic decisions.   Disagree fine, talk about what you'd prefer or your thoughts on what you consider missed opportunities, fine;  trash her and her team, no.   Art is subjective, and the fact you don't like neon green doesn't give the right to be disrespectful and hateful and yell about firing everybody.

3. An extension of Stan twitter.  Stan twitter, where no amount of shade, hyperbole, and trolling is off limits.   Too many people claiming "constructive" criticism are actually engaging in hyperbole and outright trolling.   When people like myself and others "complain about the complainers", these are the people we are talking about.   Not the respectful critics, but the people that are bleeding Stan twitter behavior into this place.   Many of us come here specifically to try to avoid that junk.   Maybe that's your thing though, maybe being shady and hyperbolic and extreme is your personality and you like it, or maybe you don't even realize you do it.    I'd suggest maybe that if you get a bunch of negative reactions to your post, that's probably a clue to objectively reexamine your behavior.   Now, I'm sure some people are fine with GGD going down that road, but that road eventually leads to a self filtering where GGD ends up looking like all the rest of the internet.  The internet can be a force of good, but for some reason (anonymity probably) it also allows people to amplify their worst behaviors, or act in ways they never would in a one on one interaction.   We don't have to be that way, but for many of us too often GGD is that way, and it ends up pushing people away from the site.    Maybe that's "the way the internet is", but it doesn't mean we have to perpetuate it.

Am fine with what ggd is now tbh

There are always a few rotten apples but they don't last long anyway and we are bye far the most friendly pop forum on the internet  without much toxic behaviour unlike ATRL or Stan twitter thanks to our moderators

We can talk about gaga critic her in a repectful way but also where we can talk about ohter Pop girls, Tv-Shows, Politics, Our personal lifes and particpate in games 

A majority of my posts here aren't even gaga related

The last thing this place needs to be is an extension of stan twitter. Stan twitter is like 4chan for the gays. Takes out all the fun of interacting with fans and people seem to lose all morals. People here just need to learn to respect each others opinions and just be respectful in general.

I just want GGD to be the place where everything Gaga gets reported in details and i don't mind speculation threads as it makes the site fun and interesting. Just wish that the constant drama and arguments would go away.

I think a lot of Lady Gaga fans, especially teenagers, like to think of themselves as "artistic" because they stan Gaga but I find that they don't understand art and don't appreciate art at all. They just want to pop their pussies to a dance song with any dark visuals.  And if Gaga doesn't give them that then she's automatically cancelled.

The second option, obviously. It's perfectly fine to express legitimate criticism and disappointment without trashing her and it's perfectly fine to object to someone's criticism without losing it because someone dared to say something negative about her. 

I've never understood why this is such a difficult concept for users on here to grasp.

There is definitely value in having all 3 places. I'd say Option 1 was like Littlemonsters.com, Option 2 is like what GGD aspires to be, and Option 3 is like ATRL. Personally, I am entertained by the drama and antics of free speech websites with limited restrictions, so I would enjoy Option 3, however, I understand why that would turn a lot of people off and it's certainly not in the spirit of GGD.
