rumours 45,521 Posted May 5, 2019 Share Posted May 5, 2019 This week, Dolly Parton was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for her work in raising money for victims of the Tennessee Wildfire Victims in 2016. While she was unable to attend the ceremony to receive the award (along with her Dollywood Foundation), she did give an acceptance speech that was pre-recorded: If you are not familiar with what happened, much of the Great Smoky Mountains (near Gatlinburg, TN) were subjected to severe wildfires which killed 14 people (with many more injured) and destroyed close to 2500 homes. She organized the MyPeople Telethon, which raised more than $10 million for victims. $10,000 were allocated to each of the households who had suffered from the fires in 2016.
