We live in the greatest and richest country in the world where it is WAY easier to MAKE IT BIG here than in third world countries. We have access to the strongest currency the U.S dollar itself. If you can't use that at your advantage to become financially stable then thats on you. The reason so many people are migrating here because of the opportunities the coutry provides. Immigrants for the most part eventually live happier than when they were back home because they know the meaning of sacrificing $5 dollar coffees and not eating dinner at night. I know because I came from the Caribbean. I had jobs that I didn't like and the pay was horrible but I knew I was in the U.S, I was being paid in U.S dollars and I have access to the stock market. I studied day and night about trading while working and saving whatever little money I had and sacrificing the small affordable things in life so that I could invest in the stock market. Fast forward 4-5 years later today and I'm financially independent with multiple revenue streams because of profits from stock trading, I became a U.S citizen in January and I work for no one. Life is hard yes, but it makes us greater and stronger. You have a great and wonderful country, take advantage of it. I did and I'm not even a natrual born U.S citizen. You should be angry at the criminal who used your card and not at the bank who refunded you the money after the identity theft. The only time any bank would hold your account and ask if it was you is when a purchase was made out of the country without telling them or you made an uncharacteristically big purchase on an inactive card. It seems the thief knows the way around this and used different transactions. Im just saying this experience of yours shouldnt make you hide your money under your bed. This could have happened to anybody. As for the bank fees, open a bank account in a credit union. They usually only require you to have a minimum balance of 5$ in the account and they dont charge fees for maintaining a checking and savings account and you still get the same benefits. It isn't misdirected. It's called being annoyed at how their fraud department is run. I have been at restaurants and had to call Chase because they thought my restaurant purchase was fraud, but seven $100 charges at gas stations, that are not even in my city, they didn't block.
