On Monday afternoon, the bank's Twitter account posted some "#MondayMotivation" tips to save money. It used a meme where a bank account chastises a person for not saving money: Observers on Twitter said the tweet had a negative tone that sounded as if the bank was chastising people for not saving enough money or having a less-than-ideal financial status. Many replies pointed out the billions of dollars in a bailout package JPMorgan Chase received from the government in 2008, at the height of the financial crisis. At this point I think putting my money under my mattress better than all the fees. On top of that last month I didn't notice and someone cloned my bank car. They made seven $100 purchases a freaking gas stations. In a completely different town. I was using the card in a town 250 miles away from where all the fraudulent purchases were made. Chase's fraud department sucks. Yes they reimbursed my money but that was a huge scare for me. I'm gonna start just paying in cash everywhere I go. They refunded your money so why are you mad at Chase? I have a feeling you misdirected your anger. You should be angry at the criminal who used your card and not at the bank who refunded you the money after the identity theft. The only time any bank would hold your account and ask if it was you is when a purchase was made out of the country without telling them or you made an uncharacteristically big purchase on an inactive card. It seems the thief knows the way around this and used different transactions. Im just saying this experience of yours shouldnt make you hide your money under your bed. This could have happened to anybody. As for the bank fees, open a bank account in a credit union. To all the people agreeing with Chase, the issue is that we should be able to pay for simple things without going into the negative & getting overdraft fees. We should be able to make a wage capable of paying for simple living expenses. We shouldn’t be making what people made in the 70’s adjust for inflation. It's a myth that people are poor because they're buying $5 coffees. Minimum wage full time workers make $50-100 a day (depending on state) but sure it's the $5 coffee (and coffee isn't $5 in most places) making them poor. She's running for president Too bad people don't pay her that much attention even though she has the most concrete policies laid out of all and she's as progressive as Bernie. She's a woman and gets demonized by Trump which is why she's not the most electable. Not to mention the native American fiasco. She should've never taken that test. You should be able to buy a cup of coffee & not have to worry about being in the negative & getting overdraft fees. We’re making what older generations made in the 70’s adjusted for inflation, that’s not right. We can’t save & live off wages that can’t even cover basic living expenses while also paying a “financial adviser” to help us “save” so the bank can invest our money into causes that go against the public’s interest & further advance their political & financial agendas.
