Stef 61,598
In many ways, we could compare Taylor's recent pop efforts with Gaga's TFM -> 1989 = Undeniably huge eras. Smashed right out of the gate, string of hits coupled with a huge album debut which proved longevity BTW -> Rep = Initial hype was huge, caused lead single to debut huge, lost steam quite quickly, subsequent singles didn't do so hot. Album debuted huge but didn't prove as consistent a seller as the previous project. ARTPOP -> TS7?? = Coming off a frontloaded era, lead single started off promising, beginning to lose steam very quickly. ME! lost over 40% of its listeners on Day 2, both Applause and ME! suffering the same fate by existing in an undeniable hit's shadow. Bleeding on Kworb, declining day by day on streaming. I'm not comparing them directly, as its quite obvious Taylor still has the upper hand on commercial success, even when she's underperforming. I'm comparing relative to their previous eras, is all. What are your thoughts? Do you think this will be Taylor's first album since 2010 not to debut with over a million? Discuss! Clumsy Monster 1,518
Interesting. But let's give Ms. Taylor some time and we'll see with the album and upcoming singles. To me Taylor is the artist that receives more positive reactions in the album as a whole than the singles.

FfFfFfFF 56,096
It seems like a real possibility. Me! is also not performing that well so far.
Ally Campana 15,284
Nah I doubt it. Overall sales at the end might not be good but first week debut is still gonna be huge. I heard that they’re doing bundles for her merch so. Not happening. Does it matter? Damage is done
RochestrMonstr 3,216
It could happen commercially. I don’t think it would be played up in the media the same way, but the charting could be very similar! There was a certain negative vibe coming off the BTW era going into ARTPOP that it just felt doomed. Taylor’s era may under perform, but I can’t imagine Taylor would have to go through all the scrutiny that Gaga did in 2013. Applause also ended up in the US top ten for longer than any of BTW’s and most of TFM’s singles. I wonder if ME! could surprise us like Applause did and have that type of longevity. The video has like 100M views already, it's been #1 on iTunes since release, it has solid streams, debuted well on radio and we're already saying 4 days in that it's not performing well so far? Delulu guys please . Even Gaga's Born This Way didn't start this solid

And of course, the numbers are still big because she is a big star and still has traction from previous eras which gave her a big fanbase but there are many signs of decline. AlexanderMagno 10,746
Taylor and Gaga have a very different approach to their work and their releases. Commercially, yes she might have a sort of ARTPOP era, but Taylor doesn’t go back and forth with her plans and usually continues to release as many singles as possible no matter the negative response (Reputation still had a lot of singles despite the lukewarm reception after LWYMMD). I’d compare Taylor Swift and Katy Perry (even though it’s quite hard to see Taylor get as low as Katy).
NotNightwing 1,677
I really love a lot of Taylor's stuff, and I'm not hating on her, but it really seems like it. If the album is anything like "Me" I can't see it doing well. Plus most of the GP I know, hell even the superfans I know, have all turned off her due to overexposure. The album will break records but will probably do a lot of damage to her career.
