Kamala Harris said Monday that she will take significant action to curb spiraling gun violence in America — an effort by the California senator and former career prosecutor to own the gun-control issue in a crowded 2020 Democratic presidential field.

Harris announced her plans during a CNN town hall, pledging that if Congress does not enact major gun legislation — including universal background checks, closing the so-called boyfriend loophole, and repealing a law that prevents victims from holding gunmakers and firearms dealers liable for their losses — she would take executive action to do so in her first 100 days as president.

The proposed order would mandate near-universal background checks by requiring anyone who sells five or more guns a year to run a background check on all of their gun sales; rescind the licenses of gun-makers and dealers that break the law and take the “most egregious” offenders to court; reverse the Trump admiration’s change to the definition of “fugitive from justice” allowing fugitives with arrest warrants to buy guns; and close the so-called boyfriend loophole to prevent partners convicted of domestic violence charges from purchasing a gun.

You mean the amendment that allows citizens to arm themselves against a government that stands against its people? That's what the amendment means. The amendment isn't about gun shows of NRA members getting autographs from George  Zimmerman.

When people can go into schools and public areas and shoot people, and yet no one has a gun to defend themself or kill the attacker, sounds to me like we are still at war and we have a severe problem.

Science and empirical evidence show that MORE guns = MORE gun violence and that's the bottomline

Please dm me with the research studies. You do realize that horrible people will always find a way to get a gun? Just because law abiding people can’t have access to guns anymore, the criminals still will. That only does a disservice to the general, normal population.

I'm not your teacher, find it yourself it's out there and isn't my problem you haven't done your homework.

 

Also the lame excuse that people will always find a way is boring and outdated. Of course they will. But that's no excuse to not prevent them from getting it LEGALLY through having COMMON SENSE laws that prevent people who shouldn't have a gun from obtaining one LEGALLY. Which is currently what happens in many cases.

Like what kind of logic is it to not make it harder for crazy people to get a gun?? I can't with you..

The burden of proof is on you. Otherwise, I don’t believe your “empirical evidence” exists. 

You clearly don’t understand where I’m coming from. Not once did I say crazy people should still have access to guns. They’re always going to get it illegally. I said law abiding, mentally sane citizens should have access to guns. This logic of “let’s completely get rid of legal access to guns” is nothing but a win for terrorists and psychopaths. Should there be alterations to the gun laws? Sure. But I also believe that more guns in the right people’s hands will do more good than bad.

On the whole, they found that increased restrictions led to lower rates of gun deaths, even after they adjusted for demographical differences in the studies. The research clearly showed that laws strengthening background checks and requiring a permit to purchase firearms decreased homicide rates. Laws focused on firearm trafficking, improving child safety, or the banning of military-style assault had no effect on gun-related deaths. And there was some, but not convincing, evidence that restricting guns in public places reduced deaths.”

 

Most people do not want to ban all guns, they just want common sense gun laws to make it harder to obtain one. I’ve shown you some sources on gun control and how it works, show me some sources that indicate that more guns equal safety.
