Developers and construction companies usually have enough options to choose what projects they want... not the Gov. telling private enterprise what to do. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. The economy is literally on the same trend it already was before Trump came into office One good thing about the 2008 crisis in America is that it corrected a lot of imbalances in economy. People really worked on fixing their finances and consumer debt dropped to lowest in many years... The housing oversupply was corrected, the auto over production was also corrected Fundamentally the economy became much healthier with a foundation to grow well into a long expansion Also the energy boom in the US from shale has provided a lot of high paying jobs in oil and gas sector and reduced imports of Oil. It has also helped manufacturing as a secondary effect because of all the equipment shale companies require In addition the energy boom has resulted in lower energy prices in North America as Natural Gas is super cheap here right now. It saves consumers money and makes manufacturing more competitive than before (natural gas is now a major part of electricity production in US) These are all things that have been great for economy that have absolutely nothing to do with anything Donald Trump has done Sure Trump cut taxes and increased spending which also added confidence and all that might have added a little more juice to keep expansion going in that sense he helped economy... But increasing spending and lowering taxes is easy any politician can do that... the issue is what he's doing long term is bankrupting America. A deficit of 5% of GDP outside recession times or war times is unheard of
RAMROD 116,996
It's pretty dire when a reporter cannot afford a house, when their income usually would cover that. Also, I thought Toronto have not stop building new condos yet? Who's gonna buy those if the prices are not affordable by the locals? Will it be a dead complex in the long run? When it comes to decisions people tend to trust their instinct even if they cannot rationalise it. Right now all the statistics are backing Trump. I don’t think his job is easy. But i think it’s interesting how you mentioned the stats were already anticipating a Trump victory long before he took office. The market does not lie. The American economy has not been this strong in 20 years.

What I'm saying is before he even announced a run for presidency this was the trend I'm saying not much changed since he came into the scene. Most of the factors that led to a strong US economy have nothing to do with him. He can't take the credit for causing it just because he happens to be the president at this time The economy was already strong before he took office, he did not set that in motion

But i also believe in the power of symbolism and how people are attracted to heroes (or antiheroes) who embody our own strengths, weaknesses, fears and desires. That sure I can agree with I'm just saying at best 20% of America's current economic strength is due to Trump. The other 80% are due to a combination of factors he didn't cause I think he added some confidence in Corporate America and his tax cuts and spending Increases help too (even tho they aren't sustainable long term) But the corrected imbalances I talked about and the energy boom that are big part of this strong economic cycle were set in motion and started the trend before he even announced he was running. Those factors are not due to Trump

Also, I thought Toronto have not stop building new condos yet? Who's gonna buy those if the prices are not affordable by the locals? Will it be a dead complex in the long run? Toronto is building many condos yes but not enough to keep up with population growth About 40,000 living units are built per year currently but they estimate the city which grows over 100,000 people a year needs closer to 50,000 a year So construction is still 20% below what is needed and vacancy rates are below 1% in Toronto while 3% was the healthy historical norm. Vancouver has a simmilar problem and there it's even more expensive, it's the only city more expensive in Canada than Toronto Basically the highest earners bid highest and get the housing supply available but the other 20% cannot get anything 2 hour commutes to work are becoming far too common as people run away to far away suburbs that are a little cheaper. Highways are so clogged these days I live in a suburb and even so normal houses are selling for $700,000 to $800,000... My wife and I have looked for a place to live as our landlords are leaving but every single apartment building has no vacant room... All we can find are overpriced basements
