Why does Gaga NEVER sound...?

... the same on live performances than she does in the album versions?

Now, I know the producers obviously modify her voice, to make it more 'polished' but she rarely sounds as 'polished' when she goes live like she does this raw voice instead. For example, with Shallow. SHE SANG LIVE in the movie! and the album version is a LIVE version, but she sounds so different when she plays it live, like in ENIGMA or even the Grammys. I think the most accurately similar to the ASIB version she sounded was on the Oscars

This was discussed before, with Paparazzi and The Fame. Apparently, she recorded the song when she was younger, so when the album was released, her voice was more 'mature' and it was hard for her to hit the same high notes, etc. But why don't she use that ''girly-sweet polished'' voice she uses in her albums in live performances?  Is she still trying to find her voice or just gets into a different character when goes live?

And this is by the way NOT meant to be negative. I love her live vocals :sara: I think she sounds amazing, but it's curious how she never sounds the same (even comparing the same songs, performed on the same tour... like she changes her voice every time she sings live lol)

I thought the album versions were done in the studio, but the versions in the movie were done live?

Shallow sounds exactly the same in both studio and movie version :green: except she starts the chorus one second later in the movie and Bradley's vocals are louder in the post-chorus, but that was fixed in the album :huntyga:

There are places where she uses her raw voice. There are places where she sounds exactly like the album version. Million Reasons has a few of those performances.

Gypsy with the Muppets is EXACTLY like the album version.

As to why, it's a conscious choice I believe. She isn't one to regurgitate the album. She even said her live shows aren't an extension of her album. They're independent. She even changes up melodies, harmonies, and instrumentals. Gets to do with them what she didn't in the studio maybe because of her producers or because Interscope.

Even for the same song, she finds multiple ways to interpret it.

Shallow at the Grammys and Shallow at the Oscars were obviously sung in different spirits.

She also did the same thing for Million Reasons and Til It Happens to You.

Because when recording albums, singers usually sing the same line many times to get it to sound exactly the way they want. It takes several tries. When you're singing live you don't always hit the same tone you achieved in the studio.

A studio is also a much different environment, you don't have the adrenaline or dancing, and the dancing does have a huge effect on the limits of your voice.

In reality, it's Britney's voice on Gaga's albums.

Gaga doesn't sing. She lipsyncs to Britney's vocals.
