What exactly is the foil edition? Because I've ordered ARTPOP on CD twice (once standard, once with iTunes festival DVD) and both times the writing has been shiny :oprah:

I've heard about the foil edition being rare or something, what exactly is it?

It was for the first 50,000 copies

It was meant to be rare but obviously they overestimated the state of the music industry. Should have been the first 10k.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

It was the edition that was supposedly exclusive to pre-orders ( I have one :queenga: ). But fans report they saw it months after the release in retail stores :lana: . And the foil really refers to the ARTPOP label shining.mp4 :lana: .

Ew, David!

The foil edition is the shiny one. It was supposed to be rare, but turned out the other one got more rare :poot:

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

I have only ever seen one non-foil edition in real life, it's definitely more rare.  A truly reverse Warholian experience :vegas:

I'm wondering if it was intentional. :oprah:

Never seen a non-foil edition, even the vinyl LP I have of ARTPOP is all shiny and beautiful.

I believe it was actually the first 500,000, but I could be mistaken.

If ya'll go to stores now that would have ARTPOP in stock, for example, if I go to a Barnes & Noble CD section and it happens to be in stock, the foil editions are officially done. I bought ARTPOP at H&M way back when the album came out and I let my friends mom keep it in her car where it remains to this day and only very recently decided hey, I should go and buy a new copy for myself just to have. And was annoyed by the fact that everywhere I went no longer carried the foil editions new. I had to buy used to get the foil. It took ARTPOP a minute but I believe the 500k finally passed.

The foil edition is the one with the shiny writing :laughga: It was meant to be rarer because only a set number were made but turns out they kind of overestimated how well the album would sell  So I think a majority of physical ARTPOP copies sold are foil copies in the end actually :emma:

I panic-preordered the physical copy from Amazon UK to make sure I got the foil one and then heard that only the US site was doing them so I preordered on there too and then both arrived being foil :toofunny: I don’t mind though, it’s prettier in foil in my opinion and it might be worth more than its price in a few decades/millenia :awesome:
