Ben Platt & Max Sheldon take the stage to perform 'gay Shallow'

Ben Platt and Max Sheldon took the stage to perform a "gay" version of Shallow.

Sheldon: "Maybe in 10 years, they'll be ready for A Star Is Born with two dudes."

Platt, who recently came out as gay, replied: "Will you be my Lady Gaga?"

Tbh they could've done that this time around but then we wouldn't have had Gaga because Bradley is the one who brought her to the project. 

We do need more gay mainstream romance movies, but probably not another version of ASIB. The fact that the GP was here for the 4th one, we're lucky and the crew did a great job. I doubt #5 will go nearly as well. 

The other issues with gay representation in mainstream movies is censorship or presentation in countries where it's not allowed. So, they need to start making more and more subtle gay hints and side relationships and then eventually have a gay relationship in the forefront.

India recently made a movie about a lesbian (and a Muslim at that!) which approached the issue sideways but is still a big step.

Ben Platt is really talented. I mean the guy only needs an Oscar to be the youngest EGOT winner (and he’s only 25!) Maybe coming for Best Song at the academy.

Ugh I love him so much. He was so good in Dear Evan Hansen.
