Colorado now joins 11 other states and the District of Columbia as part of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

“It is important to understand that the National Popular Vote bill significantly amplifies Colorado's voice in choosing the president of the United States,” John Koza, chairman of National Popular Vote, said in a press release.

The joint agreement only goes into effect if enough states sign on to total the number needed to win the presidency — 270 electoral votes.

The addition of Colorado’s nine electoral votes brings the total to 181.

I am not 100% knowledgeable about US laws so correct me if I’m wrong but ain’t the Electoral College part of the Constitution? If so, the Supreme Court will just junk this bill by a governor. :oprah:

This agreement between the states ONLY goes into effect if enough states with a total of 270 EC votes agree to it.

15 states are currently pending legislation on this.

This could be a reality.

It has given us 2 unpopular presidents in our lifetimes. It’s time to go.

Gerrymandering still occurs in the House elections. Decided by popular vote.

Gerrymandering isn’t really an issue with the presidential election.

I honestly think it is stupid. I've heard people complaining against having a traditional system on the basis that "it would be opressing the minorities" well bitch wtf, that's exactly what democracy is (sans the "oppresion", it's just who's more popular amongst the voters). The rule of the majority's will. If you follow the people's will, there's no way the minority can rule, because the minority are in favor of a system that the majority doesn't agree with. That's democracy, and the EC ain't it.

The state’s still pending legislature on this are: Delaware, Maine, Florida, New Hampshire, Oregon, Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Kansas. If you live in any of these states you should do what you can to convince your elected officials to sign!!

Trump’s presidency says otherwise.

So happy for this being a CO resident myself. Not that it means anything unless enough states pass it tho.

I wasn't pro-trump during election, but more anti-hillary. I'm glad that the Electoral College did his job.

Each state decides what to do with their EC votes.
