LG6 Lead - "I Said No"

Reflecting on different pointers, and with LG6 thought to be a self-titled album that defines Gaga's broad artistry - I think that the album's lead single is titled "I Said No".

Let me tell you why.

Past References:

Firstly, if the album is a celebration of who Gaga is as an artist, it would make sense for the era to start with a song that expresses the fundamental force behind the performer. And we know, according to Gaga herself, she has - since rising from ARTPOP - re-defined her identity by saying no. This clip is a great articulation of that:

"I realised that a part of my identity is saying no to things I don't want to do."

Secondly, in the same vein of this, we know that Gaga has always defied expectation:

"The truth is, when producers wanted me to be sexy, I always put some absurd spin on it that made me feel like I was still in control"

The entire notion of defying expectation (with C2C, with Joanne, with ASIB) can be drilled down to the idea of saying no. Gaga said no to those who defined her solely as a Top 40 pop artist. She said no to the industry when it tried to push her into the machine of generic pop.  And she said no to her fans when they didn't want her to make jazz music, country music or to star in a film.

Clues & Pointers:

Back in 2018, there were many indications that "I Said No" was a song in the works:

And even as recently as last week, Richy tweeted this:

And Michael Bearden (musical director) tweeted this:

To me, "can't stop, won't stop" would fit perfectly as lyrics  to a song titled "I Said No". Gaga can't stop and won't stop defying expectations and re-defining her ever-changing artistry.

Context:

Whilst I don't think Gaga would exploit current social trends, I do think that her team would understand how a feminist track titled "I Said No" would fit in very well to today's zeitgeist. And as such, to launch an era with such a topical theme, I think makes a lot of commercial sense.

Contextually, there is also the consideration that "GAGA" is the album's title - which I have already touched on. What better way to start the "GAGA" era  with a track that defines the name.

Conclusion:

- "I Said No" has been heavily hinted at before this point.

- LG6 is a self-titled "GAGA" album, and so the era should start with a record indicative of who Gaga is.

- "I Said No" would have cultural relevance today.

I do think this is a song she made, but I dunno if it'll be the lead single or even make the cut. I'm here for it tho, even if Meghan had that pretty OK song a few years ago. Mariah isn't on anyone's radar anymore, so, that doesn't matter, sorry! :tea:
