Maybe a bad idea for chartster bottoms but swifties know it was the right thing for taylor. Because it wasn't a terrible career choice? Taylor made me a fan with Rep and I'm sure I'm not the only fan that joined with Rep. Rep was about clearing her name and taking control of the image that the media created for her. It's what Gaga tried to do with DWUW at the AMAs but we all know how that era went Gaga is now respected by all so it doesn't matter now

She needs to do a lot if she wants to rebound from that disaster. One good final single doesn't absolve her from the sh!tshow that the rest of the album cycle was. Justin TimberlakesMan Of The Woods got the rightful response it deserved but in my eyes rep deserved it even more and there are enough more independent critics out there that say the same. We will see how her next album performs. Then we know how much rep hurt her career.

LWYMMD is the worst example of this but Ready For It which is a blatant diss against Kanye is another good/bad example. The production choices on this album are so baffling but looking at Bad Blood and I Don't Wanna Live Forever we all should've seen this coming. This album sounds like Wil.I.Am produced it during the end phase of the Black Eyed Peas and it gets just worse with every passing year. Like I said, right now rep leaves a big crater in Taylor's career and we will see if she can bounce back from that. Until now we only have opinions some backed up with statistics and others out of personal judgment

I‘m not a Swiftie, but... it‘s pretty delusional to call the last album to ever sell over 2M pure since 4 years a terrible career choice. Controversial at the time maybe, but in the end everybody saw that Taylor was in the right after all. It‘s not a coincidence that Delicate started to smash on radio as soon as Kanye came out as a delusional Trumpster. The industry has her back and will be very welcoming to her next era, guaranteed. It‘s her problem not yours and if she was still able to have the best-selling album of 2017 and the highest-selling american tour ever the situation isn‘t that dramatic... she is under a new label now and probably has even more control than she did before so who knows what she‘ll do. I also dont get how rep specifically is supposed to have hurt her career. What hurt it was what was BEFORE rep. Not performing a lot and not giving any interviews was a conscious choice in favor of her mental health so she wouldnt have her words twisted she used alcohol just to cope at times. With the negative image at the time who knows what kind of headlines the press would have crafted. And just because you dont like the album and the general consensus is „REP SUXXXXX“ doesnt mean it does. It‘s every individual‘s opinion and nothing more. I also thought before rep‘s release: ok she‘s done for she‘s gonna sell 300k first week all those 1M+ people are delusional af but it ended up being true. She has a huge fanbase and as long as you have that your career is very much alive (you as gaga fan should know that just as well as me) Musery

From 6 to barely 2 mil is pretty disappointing for Taylor. This just wasn't a good era for her.

I just said that rep doesn't seem to have been a very good choice going forward and everybody is accusing me of being delusional. Me not liking the album has nothing to do with acknowledging its success. I hate Scorpion by Drake way more but I still have to begrudgingly call it successful. LWYMMD was a hit no doubt but it didn't do what it was supposed to do which is why rep already had a bad start. I don't think that Taylor is someone that should be given creative freedom. There are a lot of artists that can't handle this, like Kanye or Kelly Clarkson. Taylor needs a great staff and people to reign in her bad ideas because this is how we got LWYMMD and RFI. End Game was a corporate cash-in that failed massively and therefore they took the most obvious (and best) song of the album and made it the next single. Delicate had to do what TEOG had to do for Gaga and they both worked pretty well for their purpose.
