Not only sound wise (because most transitions are very well done even when it's uptempo to downtempo or vice versa) but also thematically. Here's how I interpret it in stages: 1. Self Affirmation Joanne starts off with a self affirming message (Diamond Heart, A-YO). Right to the point like Born This Way. 2. Struggle Then realizes Joanne and other troubles (John Wayne - boy drama, whatever is going on internally in DiC). It all explodes in Perfect Illusion. PI is the culmination of all that's going on in the first half. 3. Finding meaning 3a. Within Million Reasons starts the second half by building up from the ashes of Perfect Illusion which is in the video too. Sinner's Prayer takes the religious theme from MR and takes it in a bit more of a self affirming direction. 3b. Outside Then it finds meaning for oneself in kindness and doing good for others. Come To Mama projects it outward and becomes about doing good. Hey Girl about helping each other. Angel Down you know.
