JazzGa 14,565
The key isn't to stop everyone from criticizing others or being cruel/rude, the key is to learn not to let the negativity of others drag you down. :) You'll never be able to control the actions of others but you can control your reaction to them and how much importance you give them. "Say what you want, write what you want about me, if you're wondering know that I'm not sorry." Let the detractors dislike her and go support their flop faves, their opinions are not important to us! Accept criticism from those you respect with grace and thoughtful consideration, (for example Elton and Ozzy's advice they offered her) but let the words of blind haters (Angela Cheng, people who don't even like pop music in the first place) and irrelevant randoms (Every idiot with Internet access) roll off your back. ChasingGhosts 726
I wrote more out in a LM post if you want to read it https://littlemonsters.com/post/52d1dd43be482b34778b48a9 I just want her to move on from them and kick ass again. Show them that they are wrong rather than say it. I posted a comment and I teared up a little when you called her Gagaloo :emo: Born This Way > Joanne > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP
Duke 437
This **** is starting to piss me off. Stop talking and start showcasing. This era is turning out to be Gaga whining on a social network that mostly attracts 12 year olds calling her Mummy. It's becoming embarrassing. MegaMiles 0
She's basically just saying everyone is qualified to like or dislike something, but that doesn't mean you are qualified to make an accurate judgment on the quality, meaning, purpose, or depth of a project or concept that you have no knowledge of. You can only hate something out of ignorance, and many critics who "hate" ARTPOP don't understand the concept because they choose to only write about what they hear through their headphones. There is no dignity to their opinions is what i think she means. It's just human being nonsense. And those calling her a hypocrite for getting mad at critics who do not like her work, but loving critics who praise it, there really is nothing hypocritical about it. She loves love, she disvalues negativity because it is not coming from a place of helpfulness, and there is no integrity behind it, no reason, other than the music is simply not their taste, but they write such dreadful things about her just because they don't like what they hear. Is that fair? To rip apart someones work, dream, and vision just because you don't care for what you hear? This kind of negativity is not simply an opinion, it is blatant hatred and an attempt at destroying another human being internally. You don't have to know a lot about food to know if its delicious or the most disgusting thing you've ever eaten. You don't need to be a chef to know that. Right now, Gaga looks like those chefs from Restaurant Nightmares where they think their food is the greatest thing in the planet, but in reality it is garbage. I'm not saying ARTPOP is garbage, but it isn't a great album. If one critic says it isn't that great then it doesn't matter. But if a vast majority of critics are saying it isn't good, then she should take their word for it. I don't think its nonesense to give criticism on things we have little experience about. I know nothing about making movies, but that doesn't mean that Star Wars Episode 1 (and the other prequels of the series) or Grown Ups 2 weren't complete garbage. I know nothing about making movies, but that doesn't mean that Star Wars Episode 1 (and the other prequels of the series) or Grown Ups 2 weren't complete garbage. These are preferences. Not facts though. The problem is that critics of ARTPOP present their PREFERENCES as facts as to the quality of the work, or the meaning of the work. If your mother spent an entire day baking you a cake but it tasted like sh!t to you, does that take away from the reason or meaning behind why she basked a cake for you all day long to try and make you happy? It doesn't take away from her effort if you simply state you don't like it and be done with it. However, if you don't like the cake, and therefore state that the reason why it is sh!t is because your mom didn't actually work hard on it, or she didn't work hard enough, or it sucked because she was too stupid to make it right the way you would like it, that is going into the realm of hatred and vileness, not displeasure. The critics are expressing their displeasure while attacking her dignity in respect to the work she has created. Back to the mom example, do you think your mother would be ok with you hating her cake and blaming her for how horrible it is and telling her it's because she didn't work hard enough just because you didn't like it? ItsTommyBitch 12,640
I'm not saying ARTPOP is garbage, but it isn't a great album. If one critic says it isn't that great then it doesn't matter. But if a vast majority of critics are saying it isn't good, then she should take their word for it. It doesnt matter if a million critics say that isnt a great album. It was her vision, she knows they dislike it and she accepts that. The problem with all of this is that many of gaga's critics arent critiquing her music. They critique her art and her supposed character and then apply it to the album. Ive read many ARTPOP album "reviews" that had "points" of how bad it was that wouldnt fly if lets say Katy Perry made it. (no hate, i love katy perry!) There is clear bias and not much actual critiquing of her music going on. I dont think ive read a negative review of ARTPOP that listed out any clear reasons for why they dislike the album or why its "the worst pop album of 2013" etc etc. Gaga bashing is in, its trending. + the fact is that its alright for a critic to dislike her music. Its alright for a fan to dislike her music. At the end of the day these are all still opinions -- the things they may suggest are their own preferences. And shes claimed many times that shes writing/doing what she wants not trying to appeal t every living person on the face of the Earth. I think her artistic integrity is strong, and admirable. It can easily be mistaken as "Idc if u hate my ****, if it sucks im going to do it anyway, because im lady gaga!" like some people on this website are taking it... If I paint a painting, and people claim its too messy, or hard to follow, but I like it -- or my close friends (*cough fans*) mostly like it, Theres nothing wrong with me not wanting to change it. Yes, critics opinions can be valuable, but most of her critics arent giving legit critiques of her music, and even if thy did she doesnt have to take it if she disagrees with it. Shes not so immature that she thinks that everything she does must be godly X_X We need to give her more credit. So people are judging ARTPOP for its message that they dont understand, they are judging it for its commerciality -- which isnt its intention in the first place. People are welcome to criticize what they dont understand, but shes saying she doesnt understand why people feel the need to critique things in ways that arent really critiques, but misguiding, deliberate bashing of her.. hence her replying to this guys post if people would read the "review". I think we are taking this whole "if your not a xxxx u cant critic xxxx" too seriously tbh. Its possible she meant it that way, but i dont think she did. bobhabanai 0
she is literary having a fight with every one, space cowboy, redone, lorean gibson, we dont see tara no more, she fired her 2 dancers she had in the fame, her manager.....i think gaga is not the same as we see her, she might be very arrogant and annoying behind the scenes...all this "art" talk is ****ing annoying as well... FFXSoul91 1,092
I can kind of see what she's trying to say here... But I'm not sure that I agree. It almost sounds like she's saying that you shouldn't be allowed to critique music if you aren't a musician (presumably one on the same level as her). LadyoftheDam 4
I totally get what she's trying to say, but it's not coming off well. It's not coming off well because it's the same argument with different words. She's definitely pressed at all the negative critiques of ARTPOP yet still isn't delivering and proving these critics wrong... The simple truth is that Gaga this era has been all bark and no bite. Girl needs to start delivering. During Beyonce's blackout, she shot 17 music videos and recorded 80 songs: all without a manager. During Gaga's blackout, she rolled about in a gold wheelchair and did some songs and then scrapped most of them and then fired her manager and then made a mess of the era before it had even begun. :tea:
