martiniglistens 1,050
..thru some quality mf headphones right now and I just came here to say that THIS is her magnum opus, the greatest pop song of the 00s, her Thriller. I never give this song enough listens since I just "know what it sounds like" but HOLY when I do I always forget. I truly and honestly think this is one of the best pop songs ever. The production, the dark undertones and euro influences, the SYNTHS. It was the height of this type of pop imo. People loved Just Dance and Poker Face, but it honestly was not until Bad Romance that jaws completely dropped and she became a full icon. The video and the choreography are also amazing. Lyrically, the song is smart as well. The Hitchcock references, and the entire metaphor of just wanting the deepest darkest parts of another person. Is it my personal favorite? No (hi Alejandro ) but acknowledging this as her best is something I have decided to do. Thats all xoxo!!

Awrah999 4,326
It her truly her magnum opus. My favorite is Always Remember Us This Way—the ballad I always wanted from her. And the most personal one for me is Marry The Night, a true rallying anthem. But in terms of pop masterpieces, few songs in the history of music come close to Bad Romance. Every time I listen to it, it impresses me and whenever I hear it in a club, the crowd goes NUTS, dancing and screaming during the climax. ICONIC. Alejandro is also one of her best—top 5 for me

LibraOctober98 3,501
Bad romance is indeed a bop! And also her most popular, but in my humble opinion, her magnum opus, her piece de resistance, will always be Jewels & Drugs. Just kidding Shallow is her magnum opus

I mean I get it MJ is controversial right now but it is her Thriller. Her song that sealed her Icon status, the memorable video and choreography, something that will be heralded as one of the greatest pop songs ever, generation defining, etc.
JustAnother 5,113
I also think it’s her magnum opus if considering popularity and sucess a factor. I don’t think it’s her best work ever created out of all of her music regardless of popularity though.
gumzy3000 7,344
I feel like Born this Way will end up being more iconic in the future. It’s a true song for all the misfits and people who felt they never belonged. It’s definitley a classic and people go crazy during Pride when it’s played. trolly troll troll
