LilyLark 10,107 Posted March 5, 2019 Share Posted March 5, 2019 While other fan groups do pull the same stunts on occasion, Lady Gaga's name generates a ton of clicks right now and she doesn't have that all powerful PR team like Bey to shut the Shallowbucks type of articles down. And yes, it started as a joke, most of the articles were harmless, and reasonable people wouldn't blame Gaga for some LM who took it way too far and/or who act horrible in other ways—but it still sucks and over-exposes her. Even Jezebel and Huffpost covered it. So I completely agree with that post to call people out who pull these stunts or who go overboard in stan wars, etc. If it bugs you, report the teenage Ariana stans on twitter who wish death but don't, ffs, sink to their level. And I suspect this sort of behavior is what keeps Gaga off social media for the most part like Beyonce and Taylor. Because even though reasonable people won't blame her, any sort of social media acknowledgement can be twisted to make it look like she's aware (I doubt she is, tbh) of LM behavior like scams and may approve (for example, people use to blame Swift for some of the insane stan twitter, even tho that was clearly not her fault). So I doubt there will be a tweet (I could obviously be wrong though) about the #1, and the acknowledgement of the album/film being successful will probably be the last sort of "tweet" for a while that acknowledges the LM. IMO she'll leave her thanks to interviews and things like the Grammy intro. And that kind of sucks, because it was fun when she interacted with fans on social media but I feel like some of the worst LM are partially responsible for why that stopped. But she's pretty upset with what she used to call "Little Monsters"... When was even the last time she used that word? I have my doubts she is even aware of Shallowbucks, but the latter was straight up bullying (which she hates) and the former got a ton of coverage right when she was trying to break out as a serious actress and was used as a cudgel at her even tho it was clearly not her fault. She did thank the LM in her Grammy intro, but yeah, I've noticed she very specifically seems to say "fans" nowadays for the most part and not LM. And I think the tattoo interaction was probably only because she was drunk, and I imagine the LM chasing Sarah off and harassing Cristian right after that turned her off social media again—I don't think it was just the Bradley rumors that made her call it a toilet. I've even seen some tweet nasty sh*t at Tony, and I mostly stay off stan twitter so if I saw that there must be more. I don't doubt she appreciates her fans, but my point is that I definitely believe the behavior of fans is what has limited her interaction and straight up stopped it on social media because she has seen how this plays out with other stars.
