On a side note....nobody ever speaks of this song and I LOOOOOOVE it. One of my fave Brit songs. I'm weird, I'm aware. Lol

Interesting. Thanks for the info

VS is owned by Limited Brands which closed all it's Henri Bendel stores too. They had the most fabulous purses. It's a tough time for limited brands.

I knew it was going to happen after I leave....

Joke aside, the show has been getting really bad these last 3-4 years. Each segment there is a singer, no catwalk. Show needs mix music, less models than now, and better segments.

Also yes. Instagram age brought many new brand with itself. VS no longer has the most shares. There are many good brands and women choose them too.

Sometimes the "truth" is just a stupid assumption.

I feel like they dug their own grave when they sent out a statement that they will never cast plus size women and trans women on their runway shows because it’s not part of their branding.

Old big brands should really get a lecture on how the economy works now, which is include everyone or your brand slowly dies.

Honestly, as a female, their products are just tacky and unappealing. I've gone on their website so many times but never found anything I would want to spend money on.

Aerie doing things right, I'll take my coins there :vegas:

Well does this mean anything tho? I haven't been following Victoria Secret to be able to say much on it

But I know many large chains every so often do an audit and a clean up of locations that are not profitable and only draining the business

I have indeed been following it and there has been a lot of backlash against the company lately for their skinnies-only advertisements and models and some tasteless comments made by their CEO about it. There were so many thinkpieces written in November/December about the decline of VS and its fall from dominance in the market. I think its stocks have been falling too. So I don't think this is a normal timely audit but a symptom of a dying business model

Interesting to hear this. The women who worked as bra fitters at my local VS were older round ladies who definitely did not fit the VS brand image :laughga: I guess that means my local VS is probably one of the ones that is closing.

VS went from opening 5 to 10 stores a year in 2009 to closing 53 stores in 2019. Business is hurting. Women are just not excited by the brand anymore.

For a company the caters to women, they sure didn't like diversity when it comes to shape of a women in it's store employees. A friend of mine ( :hor: ) worked as a manager at VS, he was actually told by his DM to hire employees that fit the brand. Glad to see that company heading in the direction of closing stores.

I think that’s just a common thing to hire employees that fit the brand image 😅
