@ the people saying it's rock.... Um where? :triggered:

You and I is the prime example. Born This Way's acoustic renditions have also tended to be on the rockier side, like Country Road remix. Queen has rock guitars all over.

Heavy Metal Rock would be more accurate, but:

the finale in MTN

the second chorus of Hair

Just Bad Kids

Electric Chapel

You And I is more soft rock

chorus of TEOG

The only one slightly rock is You and I. But the rest while may be heavily influenced by heavy metal/rock, are still pop.

You and I is a fairly rock/country song. You're right. The rest however, are still pop. Just inspired.

It's pop.

But it takes some influence from other genres. Overall it kinda sounds like an 80's-early 90's pop record with a bit of industrial and stadium rock thrown in. But it never really deviates from being a purely pop record.

It has a lot of stadium rock/80s and other genre undertones but it’s pop :lolly:

I'm a big fan of Electronic music and on my own free time I like to listen to songs that belong to different genres. Born This Way as a whole doesn't have one distinct genre, but the two most dominant genres are Techno and Electronic Rock, with a pop song structure (verse, chorus, hook, bridge, all that stuff). What I love about Born This Way is that, while the mixing and mastering is awful (I had to manually enhance it on iTunes), it doesn't sacrifice artistry for craftsmanship. Meaning the production is more aggressive. It "goes hard" as many people call it. I absolutely love the fact that the album is so much more underground in it's sound than The Fame and The Fame Monster were! Every song is a different genre, look below.

Spoiler

Marry The Night: Electronic Rock, House

Born This Way: Electropop, Gospel

Government Hooker: Techno, Industrial

Judas: Electropop, Techno (Bridge)

Americano: Techno, Mariachi, House

Hair: Synth-pop, Smooth Jazz

Scheibe: Electroclash, Eurodance

Bloody Mary: Techno, Funk, Trip-Hop

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion: Synth-pop

Bad Kids: Dance-pop, Glam Rock

Fashion of His Love: Dance-pop

Highway Unicorn (Roadway to Love): Glam Rock, Synth-pop

Heavy Metal Lover: Techno, Electronic Rock

Electric Chapel: Electronic Rock

The Queen: New Wave, Country Rock (last two minutes—when the tempo slows down and the guitars get twangier)

You & I: Country Rock

The Edge of Glory: Electronic Rock, House, Smooth Jazz (Bridge)

Gurl. Go listen to some 80s synth pop. Erasure would be a good start. Born this way is not anything originally, but it is a badass modern representation of its genre.

Can you explain what rock is? I see so many songs that sound like bonafide pop be labelled rock, like High Hopes or Shut Up and Dance.

The sun will rise each day. Will you?
