I am overjoyed at the fact that being almost 35 years old, a Madonna fan from the beginning and a Gaga fan from the beginning, I can joyfully appreciate both artists so much and not let the comparison BS get in the way. History repeats itself, anybody can investigate and find similar pictures of people throughout time. I think too much emphasis on copying images are made at nauseum.

Pretty much every artist has similar characteristics from somebody else. Hell, in the 80's, all the female singers practically looked the same.

For the life of me I will never understand these fan wars. What about the music? Isn't that what truly matters?

It isn't what your wearing, it's what your trying to say, make people think; and produce incredible music with catchy hooks, melodies and express your art through your music.

I couldn't care any less about ass showing, similar looks in videos, etc. It's all so mundane.

I think sometimes some artists like Katy Perry (I like her, mind you), Rihanna, Nicki Minaj do the rainbow hair because many people just jump so fast on other artists believing they are copying other people's looks. Who gives a ****?

Gaga and Madonna sure, do often have a similar look, but it's the music that matters. Hell, anyone who has been around in the biz as long as Madonna will see some of their looks elsewhere over the years. Unlike Cher, Madonna doesn't go into hiding practically from years at a time.

I mean Gaga and Madonna...Their energy and message of their music is so positive and I often see that being overlooked. They spread messages of tolerance, love, freedom and expression and fans focus on how similar they look in a photograph. Really? I mean, really? I would be pretty certain that both artists would not endorse the bashing and continuous comparisons of any other artist. I believe they are far more mature than that, nor do they have enough free time on their hands to care about such things.

However, I can tell you, Gaga forums always lead into Madonna topics and Madonna forums often lead into Gaga topics. Since I started using the internet regularly 12 years ago when I was 22/23 years old, it wasn't until Gaga did I see the Madonna forums lead to Gaga. At first I was thrilled by it because for me personally, it wasn't until Gaga did I see that certain something (fire, drive, energy) that I had seen since i first discovered Madonna way back in the day. I was elevated, I felt sort of energized and renewed. It was definitely all positive to me. Then, low and behold, all the comparisons started once Gaga got huge. Hell, did that get tired fast. Yet, some fans and especially the media drive this crap all over the place. Can't people just like both artists? And if you don't, just leave the other one alone? It serves no purpose and at the end of the day, what does it matter? Who cares? We all should have a hundred other things more important to talk about on these forums. I wish the media too, would just let it die. To me, they are both amazing but also so different (in a good way).

I used to be on this forum years ago (2008?) but I had to re register some time back due to an error. I do not post often. I don't really feel like my opinions fit in the majority of the time. I understand that's probably because I see things differently from an older perspective (neither a good or bad thing, just a fact). I rarely post on Madonna forums anymore ever as well, although I think those forums are mostly people my age.

The bottom line is all these comparisons just create I feel a toxic environment and mentality of other artists and it doesn't support what the artists are trying to express. Is there Madonna/Gaga similarities, yes. Is there Marilyn Monroe/Madonna similarities, yes. Who cares. The times are so much different when Marilyn was out, or when Madonna came out as opposed to Gaga. The music business, political, economical climate, everything was different. None of which can be compared. Such different times.

Just give me a great record.

So you are tired of the constant comparisons between Madonna and Gaga and are lashing out at the "media" or "olddonna stans". But the situation begs this question:

WHY ARE YOU NOT LASHING OUT AT GAGA HERSELF FOR HER CONSTANT-- AND STALKERISH-- COPYING OF MADONNA???

It's NOT the media, nor the "stans", that invite such constant comparison: it's Gaga HERSELF. It's HER responsibility for she indeed, in a really PATHOLOGICAL manner, constantly shadows and apes Madonna's moves, statements, works, LIFE. I really do think-- beyond the mere "stan" wars-- that Gaga (or Stefani) is psychologically SICK.

And her professional fraudulence is OK WITH YOU?? You ENABLE her lies, her delusions, her DISRESPECT, by your blind and often UNTHINKING gushing of whatever she does. What does that make YOU? Seriously, please start to pause, remove yourself at a distance, then THINK: Don't be sick yourselves!

Madonna has been known FOR YEARS to expose her buns onstage (with fishnets or not)-- starting from 1987'S Who's That Girl tour-- Not just the "accidental" exposure, but real "mooning" of the audience.. So for some of you to say that since Gaga did that in a previous tour and Madonna does it now means Madonna is copying, then you clearly are (per usual?) out of your heads!

Now Gaga does this... Yep, Gaga is copying, for the umpteenth time, Madonna's stage antics.

THE PERFUME AD: (I'll write it here as the copycat thing thread is apparently closed and, truly, I don't want to mess that main perfume thread with this specific issue)

You quite REFLEXIVELY ask the REALLY moronic question "Did Madonna INVENT black masks?" when faced with the very real issue of Gaga, once again, blatantly and brazenly copying Madonna. What has it to do with inventing anything??

It's this: Madonna, MONTHS BEFORE, (and worked on in 2011) released a PERFUME AD in black and white wherein she wears a black mask recalling her famous DITA character of 20 years ago. Again, these elements: PERFUME, B&W, MASKS, AD.

Gaga, a few months later has her own PERFUME with an ad in BLACK & WHITE and... BLACK MASK. Again, these elements: PERFUME, B&W, MASKS, AD

GOODNESS!!! If that ain't copycatting then the world is FLAT!

What's really wrong with Gaga? Why can't she do ART (not that anything she does is really ART) that is... HER OWN? Why can't she be HONEST and RESPECTFUL?

What's really wrong with Little Monsters? Why can't they accept the CLEAR TRUTH that Gaga is a serial FRAUD?

There are theories, of course.. but, heck, you have your minds.. For once about Gaga, USE IT.

I really wish everyone could see it this way. Unfortunately the majority of people in my generation are incredibly crude and disrespectful and take pride in having those negative qualities in their personality
