“90% of Oscar viewers ‘amazed’ by Gaga & Cooper’s live performance”

I know I'm still listening to the soundtrack.  Shallow will resonate for awhile. Gaga credits him for his use of it in the movie.  Guess he is a visionary as she keeps saying. Speaking of BR I've rediscovered it especially the jazz version.  Another one I listen to daily

It's all about the longevity and how it holds through the week on itunes/spotify. If it repeaks in the top 5 on BB hot 100, that will fuel further positive media attention onto her. :gayhat:

Oh definitely, it might not repeak on the BBH100 simply due to lack of radio play, but it’s hard to count this song out. It’s almost like evolved into a phenomenon of its own. With the exception of my guilty pleasure (GGD), I nearly exclusively read about world events from reputable and respected newspapers like the NYT, and yet even they’ve had no less than three articles on the performance/song since Sunday alone. :firega:

(Usually, the only artistic things they publish are very arcane critics’ reviews pertaining to Broadway, and the like). Pop culture is never really on their agenda, so it’s pretty amazing to see.

For me I realized it's a cultural phenomenon when I saw those videos of university students singing it together while partying and also church choirs covering the song. But reputable publications discussing the song is also up there.

in that  case you KNOW singing live a capella it's difficult. why are you a ****? plus in front of 20M people who are not their fans

I don’t get it - I’m being civil. I’m not calling them terrible musicians or saying it was a horrific performance. I was just saying why I (and some others) were disappointed.

Its difficult but damn - I’m not that salty about the performance.

I get it but also what about singers at senior recitals where they are graded on how well they sing? They have to be just as nervous cause it makes or breaks whether they graduate or not. And the professor can’t just give them points because they were nervous because everyone is.

I get it, they were nervous but there were still flaws and if someone doesn’t like it because of them - then it’s fine.

Unneccesary hate is always wrong though 🤷🏻‍♂️

it’s not a frickin senior recital bro, they’re professionals they don’t need to graduate

sorry I can't stand stupidity. they were singing acapella. tell me a singer who can sing perfect a capella live in front of 20M people ?

i agree with the point that their imperfections weren’t relevant but they weren’t singing a capella, that means without instruments and there were definitely instruments there (like the guitar and piano)

I’m just pointing out why it’s ok that there’s constructive criticism. Or why people don’t like it whether they were nervous or not.

Jeez, apparently everyone is so triggered that I didn’t think it was amazing.

Honestly, I think their performance during Enigma was better. Especially Bradley sounded better then.

Wait he directed the performance? I assumed it was the show runners choice to film it that way.  I’m just a little skeptical that Bradley would be that involved.

He discussed what he wanted and the rest is history

That’s a very vague answer. Doesn’t tell me what he wanted. He could have just said “make it look pretty”

Lol he said what camera angles he wanted lots of close ups when he joined Gaga at the piano. Wanted them to come on stage from the audience

How can someone compare potato quality recording with professional quality recording performance saying Enigma sounds better? :saladga:

Because it was organic and felt genuine and honest.
