There is no such thing as “radio friendly”. That term just means that stations are afraid to move out of their comfort zones.   What you really mean is that Radio only panders to the lowest common denominator of it’s listeners. If I was a pop fan I’d be insulted that radio apparently thinks so little of its listeners.

There is no such a thing as “comfort zone” in any business. Business is about money, not about comfort zones. Teenagers listen to singers like Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez etc. and even if Gaga releases a single which sounds like Ariana’s song, teenagers will not listen to it, because she is not an “idol” for most of them.
