Wow so Colman was not even nominated for a golden globe, yet won an oscar, while Glenn won the globe but did not win the best actress at the Oscars... Did Colman just break the curse?

Of course it was a bit shocking that the deserving Glen Close didn't win - but Olivia was also brilliant in The Favourite and is deserving as well.

Coleman was! They had different category for drama v. comedy.

She won in Musical or Comedy. Gaga and Glenn were competing in "Drama".

She was so sweet and I genuinily felt happy for her. The shock on everyones faces when they said Olivia instead of glenn still has me cackling. I’m glad the academy treated this as a best actress category instead of lifetime achievement which would not have been fair to the other nomineer. This was one of the hardest categories so i’m not even mad gaga lost. Every one of these women were amazing.

I really think she deserved it. I never watched The Favorite, but based solely on the trailers and previews I saw last night, I can tell that Colman's character required bringing such attitude and swagger to the role! I was charmed immediately and now I think I'll watch it. Of course Gaga is my queen but she basically played herself and Glen deserves to win eventually but The Wife was not a standout film or role. So I am quite OK with this upset.

Bohemian Rhapsody however... :green: I'm coming for u

She was really really really really great in The Favourite! Like I can't stress it enough! The movie is very funny but very sad at the same time, and she's the one that brings that tone to it, she really deserved the win, she's a virtuoso.

Between Glenn, Olivia or Gaga I was just happy if it went to any of them.I loved Olivias speech, she's genuinely really funny and sweet and its kind of amazing to see how far she's come since Peep Show (2004) and see her progress like she has.
