How did ASIB lose Best Sound Mixing?

shame

Featured Posts

i'm not a sound technician but i'm confused as to why ASIB lost best sound mixing to Bohemian Rhapsody? The sound engineers on ASIB had to work with live vocals and instrumentation while the BR team already had recorded Freddie Mercury vocals and Queen songs to work with. I'm happy for the BR people but I was honestly hoping and expecting ASIB sound team to take the Oscar :/

I guess because you simply can't compete against an Original CD playing in the background!

Seriously, 8000 people voted. It may have been different had 8 Billion did.

Yea, and weren't sound experts saying that BR was pretty crappy in regards to it's editing and mixing?

For sound editing and mixing, ASIB is clearly not better than Bohemian.

Sound Editing/mixing are not "best music" award.

I was really baffled by this. I'm also intrigued on how you can vote for such an award because I feel like you need to see that video to really appreciate and understand the amount of mixing that goes on and the mammoth task, like all those subtle things that got pointed out with that scene made me really appreciate aspects of the movie more. Do all the thousands of voters really pick up on all those things? This award more than anything I would love to know why people voted for BR, and their reasons.

No one is saying best music award. In ASIB, they had to put live vocals into the movie, while BR didn't.

I think most of the voters just have no idea what sound mixing is or all it entails, tbh. Reading some of those “anonymous ballot” things leading up to the Oscars really opened my eyes. People are really out here voting based on the craziest things... they haven’t seen the movies in a lot of cases, and it’s really the technical awards that suffer.

It’s like me taking a wild-ass guess filling out my Oscar predictions, but they’re giving the awards :saladga: A mess!

This whole BR oscar frenzy was just one more addition to Queen's promo campaign.

Ask Sacha Baron Cohen (the one and only perfect Freddie doppleganger) !

Lmao, the voice in the movie it’s just not Freddie, it’s Freddie mixed with Malek voice and some one Freddie impersonator, don’t remember the name... so probably that’s why :ohwell: The finished product is excellent
