They've taken such a hit in the past few years due to the political climate and certain groups of people creating such a ruckus about the event. Everyone used to watch it, but now that there's more diversity, people are being turned off. And that's pretty disappointing. Additionally, even people who do like the Oscars are being turned off due to the host situation(would be interesting to see Whoopi show up tonight if true), some awards being handed out at commercial, etc. However, I actually think that the Oscars are better than ever in many ways. The stories being told along with the nominees are much more interesting. It's an American event that celebrates art, and it's sadly being tarnished by those who wish to go back to the old days where women, black folks, and LGBTQ people couldn't speak their truth. I hope tonight's telecast changes people's perceptions. I really hope the producers don't do the show dirty with all of these things happening. We're at a point in history where institutions like the Oscars, the Times, the FBI, etc are all being targeted, and that needs to change. Sorry for the rant, but I've always loved the Oscars and I'd hate to see it become the Kids choice Awards due to idiots.. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
