The controversy stems from reports that pedophiles have latched onto videos of young children, often girls, marking time stamps that show child nudity and objectifying the children in YouTube's comments section. The move is a familiar black eye for Google-owned YouTube, which frequently battles content moderation challenges and is losing market share of the digital advertising industry. For me, this sounds like Disney should be guilty for everything someone says while watching their movies. Its stupid and its just a way to attack a competitor. The scandal developed very recently, the same thing is happening on Facebook too. Pedophiles randomly scroll through social media and compile pictures/videos of children and re-upload them with gross captions or time-stamps like "3:34 girl bends over and you can see her underwear". It's VERY easy to find on both Facebook and YouTube and the sites never get deleted because technically they don't practice illegal activities or infringe on their respective netiquettes. This is the same as twitter doing the most to take down accounts that break copyright policies (going as far as taking down stan accounts that post photoshoots) but being fine with homophobic/racist accounts. There are sick people on youtube that comment disgusting stuff, but youtube doesn't do anything about them, but god forbid you say **** in your video or use 15 seconds of a song. He stays with me alot and there were times at night I'd walk into a room and he would very quickly hide his computer screen. I'm easy and cool but warned him. I said, "Do what you do but realize this...if you are trading pics of yourself with a girl your age and there is nudity, you have child p*rn Send a pic a girl to one of your boys and you just distributed child p*rn!" His face went white as a ghost. I also told him "Old nasty people are going to be smart. You dont always know who you are talking with so go easy there homeboy!' It's TRUE. You MUST be careful. Its appalling to think of such a thing on something as public as YouTube. That goes to show you that you must be cautious everywhere.
