This is more a technicality by definition than anything else tbh

 

Very few countries in the world are actually truly socialist by definition

 

But when most people refer to socialism they are refering to a more left winged economic system. More taxes, higher government spending, more regulations etc

 

I think the debate over the politics itself is more important than whether or not people are using the correct word by definition of what they mean

 

Bernie can change what he calls himself if it makes some people more comfortable. But he is still socialist by what people are trying to say when they say socialism

DM aims to eliminate capitalism. Meanwhile SD works WITH capitalism. Which is what it sounds like their policies sound like. 

This has always confused me. Unless the people who identify as DM said they actually want to throw away capitalism in the US 

I never thought it was a good idea, but it was definitely a no-holds-barred signal to the left-left.
