A few thousand rural folk shouldn’t take our country hostage and away from what the majority of the voters want. Yes it is mostly 3 cities. Its Los Angeles, NYC, and Chicago. Those cities votes overpower the rest of their respective state, and then make the state democratic. And the sum of those 3 electorally is over 100. Liberal California's population alone can massively swing an entire election. Why should no one's voices be heard who live in Alaska, and the rural midwest. 15% of America lives in CA and a majority are liberal. But thats just one location of our huge country. The electoral puts weights on the states so that people can make a difference in the small and less populated states "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." The electoral puts weights on the states so that people can make a difference in the small and less populated states We have a bicameral Congress. The House and Senate represents our population very well. All decided by popular vote. It wasn't always like that, the Senate for example was chose by state legislators. That changed in the 20th century. The presidency should be the same. It makes more sense than ever in the 21st century.

People that live in countries where gays get killed on the daily simply for being gay can't.

The electoral college disproportionately gives some regions more voting power than others which I don't think makes sense Tho to be fair almost every country is like that. Here in Canada we don't use the popular vote either And your opinion is definitely valid. I know where I stand on the matter, and I'm honestly probably not well educated enough on the history of the system to speak more on it. Before Trump even ran for President, back when I was a Democrat I thought cities should be weighed less. I think California's and Texas' votes should be substantially decreased. Also, I just found out the other day that the census is based off of illegal immigrants too. How is that fair? I'm interested it see how Alabama's lawsuit goes. I have family/many friends who are republican and hate Trump for example, it all depends what part of the side you go for.

The point is Trump IS detached from people's everyday struggles. He is just a con man who knows what to say to appeal to people who think he identifies with them. In a way I feel for those people who want a better economy, etc. But come on... Trump? Truly desperate. Sad.
